RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Why doesn't RIT ever recruit from Rochester EDGE program?
I have heard it's fallen this year and a few players are now playing in Pittsburgh but they had a few recent graduates go onto Maine, Colgate, Elmira, Oswego, Cornell and BU.

Did Katie Stack play for the Edge?

Katie Stack, Ali Hills (Both recent grads) and Kristina Moss (current) played for Rochester Edge.
And if the Edge program has fallen off, why would RIT recruit there? If they're a Division I player, they have gone to D1 schools. If they were a D3 player they probably played for RIT.
Kind of tough to question recruiting after winning the D3 National Championship. It will be interesting now to see if any of the D1 talent stays at home but if it's anything like the men's side the Rochester kids tend to leave home.

Cardella, a senior at BU, also plied her trade at the Edge at one point.

Such a ridiculous statement, of course they recruit in their backyard.

To the photographer at today's exhibition game who was wearing the blue T shirt and Iowa Cubs hat....you sir disgust me. The other photographers on either side of you were classy enough to put their cameras down while Kolbee McRea laid injured in front of you. Instead of doing the same and respecting her, you fired up the best close up lens you had and inched as close to the glass as you could. I watched you take close ups of her face as she writhed in pain on the ice and saw you review them on your camera, apparently to your great satisfaction judging by your head nods and smerks. You apparently enjoyed the shots you got of a fellow RIT student, suffering, in a vulnerable situation. If it weren't for the fact I wanted to respect the situation and the fact her family was seated nearby you, I would have had no problem standing in front of you and blocking your shots until we both got ejected from the arena. You sir, are a total waste of human flesh and I hope the athletic department revokes your credential forever.

Nice to see the Tigers back on the ice. I'm not sure what Kolbee's injury is but judging by the amount of pain she was in I would guess shoulder. Hopefully it is a quick recovery for her as the team needs her offence.

The game had some moments but all in all was a pretty lacklustre affair. Celeste Brown shows she has an amazing shot and Ali Binnington had a stellar first half in the pipes.

Over the past few years they have had girls go to Maine, SLU, Cornell, Colgate, BU, Wisconison, Elmira (this does include the girls that left for NAHA) but none to RIT.
At the Stoney Creek Showcase this past weekend I sat with, while our girls played each other, the families had opinions on RIT and that the coach tends to not bother with Rochester players?
Don't kill the messenger I just thought it was a very strange relationship.

Re: RIT Tigers 2012-2013 season

Up to and including this year, RIT was a D3 program from a recruiting perspective. Except for Elmira, all of the schools that you mentioned are D1 programs that can either offer money (schollys) or prestige (Ivy). It is not surprising at all that Edge players looked elsewhere in the past as scholarship money is tough to pass up. As we all know, it is tough for any aid-based D3 program to compete with that.

Now that RIT is D1, judge their recruiting efforts going forward as they are on more of an even playing field with the programs you mentioned (except Elmira).
