score is at 1-1 after 2 periods.
i tuned in halfway through the second, but it was some lackluster play from rit considering we were a man up most of that time. dodged a 2v1 breakaway near the end of the period and then looked great for the remaining two minutes or so.

lynch? deflects in a shot from the point with the blade of his stick, but the goal is disallowed after celebrations and ruled a high stick. replays seemed to confirm the refs got it right.
1-1 with 7 to play.

and it's a 3-1 loss.
a beautiful goal scored with about 5 left, and then an empty netter to close it out. the tigers seemed to be the better team, but the canisius goalie seemed to be having a good night.

A pathetic performance. We couldn't finish a shot to save our lives. How do so many go in last Saturday and so few today?
The way we dominated play, it should have been 4-1, but every shot was right at Morrison.

it did seem like every shot was right at morrison's chest, that was not much of a help. could use a bit more passing instead of the long shots being dumped in. some of that can maybe be chalked up to it being early in the season i guess. being short on defense probably had some impact on their second goal too. fresher legs might stop that play before it even develops.

Given his well over 90% save rate and his only 2 GAA, I don't think it's possible to blame Watson for this one, easy as it may seem. The offense was not good tonight, despite plenty of possession time. Passing is still very sloppy, and our shooters are not finishing their shots, we made it easy for their goalie.
I think our lack of defensive depth continues to hurt us, as Burt was once again playing shifts at the blue line, undoubtedly effecting our ability to score and keep them from scoring.
All in all I thought Watson played pretty well, certainly well enough for a win most nights.

as a note, burt took a knock today. hopefully that is not a lasting issue. and for those who were watching the tv feed, he got lucky and got away with skating up to a little scrum behind the goal and giving someone a right hook. really dont need him getting dq'd or suspended for something stupid, especially with the shallow defense.

Watson had a solid nite - and yes usually good enough for a win. Him and Descoteaux (sp?) had the best nights.
After the first 10 minutes or so, RIT played poorly. Even still, going into the third I thought the light switch would come on and RIT would take over. But that never happened. The disallowed goal may have been the final nail in the coffin.
What was a little disturbing was how often Canisius was able to get behind RIT in transition. If they can do that, I dread what Union will do.

We whiffed on sooooo many good opportunities. something was quite off tonight, lots of bad and weak passes. there were a couple times where we were able to get solid possession. but not much.
I don't know why we always play down and sometimes up to the level of the teams we were facing. But we need to get our passes to click if we hope to have a chance on Saturday.

That's an extremely disappointing loss. I wonder how much the constant switching of defense partners (since they only have 5) has caused the sloppiness back there. They're turning the puck over entirely too often this season. The offense was too cute for the first two periods - awful looking powerplay after the opening goal.

The officials let some pretty blatant head contact, face washes and a punch that decked an RIT player go uncalled. Both RIT and Canisius got away with a lot. The worst perpetrator, though, who twice should have gotten 5:00 and a DQ finally did after the buzzer. Those unmade calls really were surprising given the emphasis on head injuries in hockey these days.

I know you know your stuff. With all the respect for your knowledge, the Tigers played like crap yesterday. You can't blame the officials on this one. They couldn't finish. Watson played well. Everyone around him did not. The Tigers just sucked yesterday, plain and simple.
As a fan I am ****ed the Tigers let that happen to Watson. This was his first real start and they screwed him over. They play arrogantly and have to stop. We are not a good team, we have potential to be good but we are not.
Can't finish, can't defend and can't pass! The only thing this team has going for them was that they went to the Frozen 4 two-years-ago. Guess what, there not even close to being to that team.
Another thing is the Tigers are not good enough to pull stunts like they did last night, you can't be taking teams lightly, otherwise we are not going to get home advantage for the playoffs.
