>>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

Also, the conversation on the Leafs forums on HFBoards is pretty negative about pretty much everything, including Brenner. Contrast that to the Vancouver boards that were fairly positive about Tanev even before training camp started. Now they freaking love him.

Welcome to the hockey crazy world that we call Toronto. Every little thing mentioned about the maple Leafs is front page and centre. A little like the Yankees maybe even worse!!

Like the Yankees news-like, maybe, but at least the Yankees win. The dynamic is so screwed up in Toronto, it seems (from an outsiders perspective); self-loathing seems fundamental to the fan experience.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

Sure, there's finally a Vancouver game on Versus that I'm able to catch and Tanev's not in the line-up. Figures. Oh well, they beat Detroit 2-1.

Great news on Favs. Now we need Murph to sign somewhere...hopefully my Devils organization.:D

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

In Elmira tonight, looks like Favs got his first 2 pro career points in a 4-2 win in his first pro game! :)

Also tonight, in Brenner's 1st pro start, in the 3rd period, he scored 2/3 of a hat-trick (Marlies goal #4 & #5 on the night) and was awarded the 2nd star of the game!! in a crucial 5-1 win against Grand Rapids!:D
So far, he now has the highest shot % on the team @ 66.7%-nobody else is even close ;)

However the Toronto fans on Reddit were much more positive/excited about the Brenner news.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

A question about Brenner's NHL Salary:

He only gets that money ($900,000/yr) if he gets called up to the NHL right? Otherwise he gets 67,500/yr in the AHL?

This leads me to Tanev who has been playing for the Canucks since Jan 18. He is also slated to receive $900,000 in the NHL and $67,500 in the AHL. So how much money is he currently making? Does he get paid per game?

Thanks for humoring me

The wonders of the two-way contract Yes, 900K in the NHL, 67,500 in the AHL. Does get his 90K bonus both years no matter where he plays.

I would imagine that Tanev is getting paid monthly, and they prorate depending on where he's playing. It sure looks like he's staying in Vancouver for the rest of this season and playoffs.

All players get paid on a day basis, not monthly. So if you were to figure their are 186 days in the NHL season, Tanev gets paid roughly $4,838/Day he is up with the buig club, even if he watches from the Skybox. As per NHLnumbers, he has been up for 85 days equaling @ $411,290 to date.

Looks like Tanev was a scratch last night. Anyone know why?

I believe he was sent back to the AHL.

edit: nvm, NHL Transactions indicates he wasn't. They got Bieksa back on D, so Tanev is the 7th man at the moment.

The Canucks have had a LOT of injuries to their Defensemen. There have been points where fans were rejoicing when a game went by and no one was injured. Tanev wasn't supposed to be up as long as he has been- fortunately it has allowed him to make a good impression.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

I read in some article last night (Vancouver paper, I think) that they plan to keep him up through the playoffs. It was specifically stated that he was a healthy scratch, but not being sent back to Manitoba.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

I hope they post a highlights video for the Marlie's game last night so we can see Brenner's 2 goals!

How long until we can piece together a projected schedule for 2011-2012? Not sure when the early schedule info comes out...

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

I agree, I would like to know that too. I heard we would be going to Wisco to play 'em.

What we know/expect
Conference (opposite of last season):
2 Home, 1 Away: Robert Morris, Niagara, Mercyhurst
1 Home, 2 Away: Air Force, Canisius
2 Home: AIC, Holy Cross, Army
2 Away: UConn, Sacred Heart, Bentley

Non Conference
St Lawrence for Brick City Homecoming, RPI and Union at Ritter, away at Vermont's tournament (Catamount Cup, New Years Weekend), 2 @ Wisconsin first full weekend in January.

The AHA commissioner said something in a recent interview about releasing the conference schedule shortly after the Frozen Four. And thats typically when other schools start releasing them. RIT typically doesn't release it until July...

Thanks for the info. I always look forward to seeing the opponents for the OOC games and what caliber of teams they are able to get on the schedule. This looks like a great list for next season. Do we already know the other 2 invited teams for the UVM tourney?

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2010-11 - Part II - The Dream is Still Alive <<<

From the some things never change department:

Cincinnati’s Hudson Fined, Suspended

Cincinnati’s Carl Hudson has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #645, Toledo at Cincinnati, on March 26.

Hudson is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Hudson missed Cincinnati’s game at Toledo on March 27.

Compliments of the ECHL Website

And this isn't the first time. See here from November:

Under this Rule, a game misconduct penalty must be assessed anytime a major penalty is applied. In addition, the player shall be suspended automatically for not less than one (1) game.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Hudson will miss Cincinnati’s game against Florida on Dec. 3.

From the schedules thread, Lake Superior State is one of them.
