>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

You could build a league from among St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Colgate, Cornell, Union, RPI, RIT, Canisius and/or Niagara, for example.

Cornell absolutely will not leave the other Ivies. No questions asked. However, without Cornell, an 8-team NYS conference with fairly decent travel partners (Colgate-RIT would be the farthest apart) would be a valid option.

A radical reshaping of the D-I landscape is needed.

No disagreement here.

With the current conference layout, there is no opportunity for RIT (or really any other school) to jump from the AHA (or their current conference) without serious harm to a couple different conferences as each of them attempts to keep their own best interests in mind.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Can we just kick the moron in the front row of the corner out? He always seems to be the cause of these things (including the racist chant). Pull some club status rank over him? ;)

At least from us who stand up on top next to the corner, he annoys us to no end, and it's classless chants like the racist one that make all of us look bad. This isn't the 1st time I've heard him make the racist chant, as well as the just as classless "you're adopted" chant. What a goon...

I've heard several people start that before...also we are not longer a club. Unless someone wants to take over.

Here is a question.

After 4 years of being D-1 and winning the regular season championship 3 times in 4 years... I think it might be time to move to another league... Here is why...

We have an amazing fan base. We had almost 8,000 people for the home opener. We are a growing club and university. We are playing in a league that I believe will stunt our growth. How much more can we grow playing unknown hockey schools. The only schools that people know of nationally are Air Force, Army and UCONN. Army and UCONN are not known for their hockey.

Who disagrees?

Niagara and Robert Morris are joining next year, I think this will make our conference more competitive. As far as stunting our growth I don't know if I buy that...wait until we are being consistently ranked before you pull out that one.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Stunting RIT's growth? Has RIT won the AHA tournament and I missed it? ;)

Yes there needs to be realignment in general. But until then, RIT is in a great spot for now because they still have room to grow even in conference. Look at the non-conference records - not so great this year as pointed out by several posters. RIT has never had a winning non-conference record at the DI level. Let's get a serious tradition of excellence that lasts more than 1 or 2 recruiting classes before we talk about being too good for the league.

Having not won a conference title, never playing in the NCAA tournament and winning zero out of conference games this season, it is awful bold to make the claim that the AHA is stunting RIT's growth...

For those who are interested.. check it out..we are the "last team in" if all goes right, we would potentially play Denver ( currently the #1 team in the nation). Imagine what would happen if we play them tough or possibly pull out a Win. It would be bigger than beating Minnesota at their place a few years back.

We have quite the exciting couple weeks to look forward to huh? =) I have not been this excited since the announcement about going D-1. I just pray we these next couple weeks are not cut short.

In all likelihood the AHA champ will play the #1 ranked team (according to PairWise) no matter what. Unless something odd happens like 3 #4 seeds from the same conference or someone other than Bemidji winning the CHA tourney. There's some other scenarios that would mix things up too, but this is the most likely situation.

Any win in the NCAA tournament would be bigger than any win the Tigers have had so far in DI.

We are not the last team in; the only reason we're mentioned in Bracketology is because we're the #1 seed in the AHA and thus the presumptive tournament and autobid winner. And if we make it, we're more likely to be playing Miami than Denver, depending on how the final stats wash out. (Although if we end up in Worcester instead of Fort Wayne, I wouldn't complain one bit!)

(What we really need is for Cornell to step up and become a #1 seed so we have a chance of playing in Albany!)

Cornell will not get a #1 seed. Even if they did, they would have the #1 in Pairwise to play RIT.

Denver right now is the #1 seed and I expect that RIT would be playing them.

To try and make it easier to understand when forming the brackets the NCAA looks at a few factors outside of the rankings. Frist if any host team is in the tourament if so they end up in that region they are hosting. They then look at advoiding interconference match ups and they may also move teams if they believe it will help attendance issues.

One thing working if RIT draws Denver is that there are two other teams closer to Saint Paul than Denver in the top 4 seeds, St. Cloud and Wisconsin. One thing Jason has pointed out in his Bracketology is that Denver will have to fly no matter where they go. So if there is another teams from the WCHA are closer to St. Paul than Denver they probably would go to St. Paul and Denver would get flown somewhere else. If RIT plays Miami they would end up going to Ft. Wayne.

Way its looking to me. St. Paul is out if Denver wins the WCHA Tourament (Assuming that there are no early upsets in the WCHA and CCHA). If the WCHA goes to Saint Cloud or Wisconsin and Miami falls in the CCHA tourament then St. Paul it will be. If we draw Miami we be going to see the Subaru plant in Fort Wanye Indiana...

I want though to make it clear that we have a long way to go before this is a reality. The AHA Tourament is going to be tough, especially the final four at Blue Cross. I think this is the best chance RIT has, it may not be the most talented RIT team in the last two years, but it has the right players to make the best team as compare to the rest of the league. But remember, Blue Cross are two single elmination games against very good teams. Nothing is giving, going to have to earn it...

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Seriously guys ... this discussion is getting WAY ahead of itself. Talking about brackets and locations makes sense if you're lined up for an at large bid. RIT is not, and will not be. The only route in is to win the single-elimination playoffs AFTER winning a series at home. Can we reel the discussion in to the two against Canisius this weekend and how to keep momentum for the playoffs and guessing on who the first round opponent will be.

IF RIT wins the first round, then let's go crazy talking about the AHA final four at BCA and how it would be so peachy-keen if RIT won it all and went to the big dance. THEN when that happens, let's ***** and moan like everyone else about the draw and the trip that so many of us will drop everything in make ...

So, who thinks it will be DeMike on Fri., Madalora on Sat. ... and an RIT sweep of Canisius (looking something like how Canada took it to Russia last night!)?

BTW: GO USA!!! Men & Women!!! (and in a nod to my friends to the north ... Go Canada Curling!!!)

I think we'll see Madalora, but on Friday instead of Saturday. I'd expect DeMike to play senior night on Saturday...

I'm just hoping Hudson plays so he can get a warm welcome back to the Ritter tomorrow ;)

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

I think some discussion on Tournament seeding for RIT is appropriate, considering that people will be making travel arrangements with one week notice, as long as people keep in mind it’s not a given thing. And I think we know from the last two years that we know that.

Who will be in net this weekend is an interesting question. Will be interesting to see how Wilson decides to play this series. RIT has nothing to play for at all, other than confidence that they can beat Canisius if they meet in the playoffs, which could happen. If Canisius matches Air Force in points this weekend they take the #4 seed and last home playoff spot.

Given the little history Wilson has on meaningless games, I think Madolora starts a game for sure. DeMichiel may get to start the game on senior night, but I would not be Surprise to see Ropponen play either, maybe he splits time with DeMike…

You mean the Carl Hudson that Canisius nominated as their Hobey Baker candidate? What a joke that is. But I think the teams have moved on from that debacle. I hope we don't get involved in that stuff this close to playoffs.

I agree I think the teams have moved past it as well. Last year when we played at Canisius I remember the refs being very ticky-tack from the beginning. I'm willing to bet we'll see the same this weekend. Also I think Canisius has too much to fight for (home ice) to be goons this weekend again.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Unless the games are blowouts, I don't think we will see Roppenen at all this weekend. If I were coaching I would go Madelora Friday and DeMike Saturday. DeMike WILL be in net Saturday for Senior Night I would think. Madelora could use another game for experience as he will be in contention for the starting job next year.

Hudson is a great offensive minded defensemen. Who has stayed out of trouble since the incident at RIT which cost him and Ricky Walton many games. The only real negative thing I have to say about Hudson is that he makes me look like a english magorr....

Has anyone heard about tickets for the playoffs? I would think we should have heard something about the 2 out of 3 weekend by now.
