I looked on my TV Guide and didn't see if they were going to broadcast the skills comp. The Hobey is, but anyone know if it will be televised? I know they had issues the last few years with the competition going over its time slot....

Wow. . . looks like it won't be on TV. The skills competition starts at 8:10PM and the only televised portion is the Hobey Baker presentation from 7-7:30.

ESPNU can televise reruns of yesterday's game during the day, but can't give us live hockey at night more than a few times a year. :confused:

Replacing the skills competition? College Football Live (in April!!!) and Mississippi vs Georgia in baseball :rolleyes:

We should be happy any of the hockey NCAAs were on any ESPN channel.

Congratulations to RIT Tiger Hockey for an outstanding season. Making it to the Frozen Four only five years after becoming Division I is an incredible milestone. I look forward to watching the next season, possibly from England.

For folks who've just heard about RIT Tiger Hockey, this is only the beginning! :D

The other question is, do we want to get draft-pick quality players? Is that what we need to truly compete and not get embarrassed at the national level? Or can we do it by sticking with players who are going to come here and stay here until they graduate?

Exactly what I was thinking!

I don't think it will help with the kids that really need the financial aid but at the very least it adds another reason to why you should go play for RIT.

I'm not sure if we do, I think we can be competative without getting the "top" recruits. Obviously you need skilled players but I think if your team has good chemistry it can make up a little bit for the difference in skill.

Even though we lost 8-1 I don't believe that Wisconsin was so much better that we wouldn't have had a chance. Sure it would have been tough but I think we didn't play the best we could have. In the 3rd period, before we put in the backup goalies, we looked much better (at least to me)...I think if we played like that we would of made it a lot closer. I thought we made a lot of dumb passes throughout the game and it didn't seem like we were making smart choices. Anyways, its one bad game from an amazing season and I couldn't be happier for what we did.


As far as making it back to the NCAAs goes I'm not sure what to think. My biggest concern is how will our goaltending be? I think we are returning some quality forwards and defensemen and as far as that goes we just need to keep our chemistry going with the freshmen. If I had to guess I'd say we should do fairly well in the AHA, I think we'll finish in at least the top 4. I don't know if we'll be able to make it back to the NCAAs next year but I think if we don't make it back next year we'll be back 2 years from now.

With most of the offense in coming back, RIT will certainly be a force again in the AHA. Brenner should be back for a full year. Favot and Burt will again be top players. It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill the roles of Mazzei, Matic, and Alexin.

Defensively, the Tigers still will have a solid core. Tanev was an INCH all-rookie selection. Haltigan and Seracino will bring hard shots as well. I though Spivak had a pretty good season stepping up when Eckeswiller got hurt. Ringwald's leadership will be tough to replace.

I think goalie will be a tough battle during camp. Madelora looked pretty good in his limited play. But we do have a recruit coming in, so we will have to see how that goes. Roppenan will be the #3 goalie.

I would be shocked if RIT were lower than #4 in the AHA (without looking at what other teams lose).

I say we put an end to the Mullet bashing - he seemed to have respect for RIT and therefore I'm gonna give him some in return. Even when the Tigers were getting spanked by UW he said 'this isn't the same RIT team I saw in Albany'.

Just wanted to say, it was awesome to hear "RIT! RIT! RIT!" on TV tonight. Nice haul, guys!

I've been to 15 Frozen Fours and I honestly haven't ever seen a showing by a fan section that didn't have a team in the game. I heard more than once from media people here, "I have to get to a game at RIT."

Best part of a bizarre FF where none of the games were competitive, even though the skill levels were, I thought, close: the RIT student section. Clearly the best fans in the building, represented their school and program well.

It was painful to watch their fundamentally sound team earn a win over my team in the field, Denver, but smart and determined play earned them their spot in Detroit. And in the final tonight, their great student section, which stayed in Detroit for the final for the most part, were far more avid than the Boston and Badgers' fans. Props to you folks for what you brought to Motown, it was fun to meet several of you!

Elsewhere, everyone else in college hockey remains impressed. RIT fans were pretty much the high point of the tournament, according to everyone I've talked to here, both in the media and in the stands.

Hahaha. You're a tool, Red Cloud. Lighten up, unwad your panties, and let everyone else enjoy themselves. Almost everyone I've heard from loved our cheering section, with many calling it the best part of an otherwise pathetic FF. Not that I agree with everything they said, but screw it - if the other fan's don't have enough self-respect to stand up for themselves or their team, I don't care who wants to **** all over them. The environment was closer to that of a curling match.

You calling anyone else an attention whore is hypocrisy in its purest. One slight against your ego and it's such an outrage, isn't it?

Hey RIT fans that were in Detroit this weekend, you guys rocked it. I had fun cheering with you all, I think it turned into an awesome and fun cheering seminar; we both learned a lot of good stuff. I was really proud that you guys didn't resort to "Gopher Rejects" to Wisconsin, like most schools do (even mine). Despite an early mistake (scoreboarding other fans, shame on you), you all had some awesome ideas and loud voices to make it happen. Your team should proud to have your fan base. It was great meeting you all, see you next time!

Why am I amused at how much ink the RIT fans got? :D You would have thought RIT won the championship. Imagine what we fans will be like then. :eek: :eek: :cool:
