RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

If I'm wrong it just shows how little I pay attention to pre-season (or even in-season, for that matter) polls, but... I could have sworn BSU was in the pre-season top 20. I know that they spent a large chunk of the season in the top 5. I would think it would be extremely difficult (especially for a "mid-major") to rise all the way from out of the rankings up to # 4 unless they managed to pile up 10 early season NC wins against teams like BC, Miami, and Denver. I know BSU's NC schedule consisted mainly of WCHA teams, which automatically makes it very tough, but still...

Komey remembered it right. They were two spots out of the top 20.

They did get off to a good start, too.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Got this off the 'New Scoreboard' thread

College Hockey Inc. has annonced a live scoreboard (with video highlites) in partnership with Pointstreak:

Note that it says not all games will be available until January 2011, but if you go to the College Hokcey Inc site, they have a score-bar at the top of the page:

I will certainly check it out tonight to see how many games are truely "live"...

RIT is listed for today's game. Looks to be a Beta site so we'll see how they do keeping up with the scores.

Great for away games or if you can't pick up witr for whatever reason.

Tough loss for RIT. Interesting thoughts - Ropponen made the start. He played fairly well. He only allowed 2 goals (3rd was empty net). Anyone catch why Burt didn't play? He could have provided some offense.

I missed it and they haven't posted the box or recap. How were the shots on goal? Were the Tigers right in the play, or did Ropponen have to keep it close? I'm kind of surprised that facing possibly the toughest opponent of the season (if pre-season polls are worth anything) that Jan got the start. Good for him. Maybe he really stepped up and earned it. I assume one of the other two will start against UNO tomorrow.

The 4 power plays they gave up in the 2nd really took any momentum RIT had. They were right with St. Cloud until that point.

This was a closer game than the score states due to the empty netter. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better outcome - though UNO thrashed Clarkson.

did we get any reason on why no burt and janda? And why ropponen and not madalora or watson??

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

There goes the perfect season!

Thought the Tigers picked up too many penalties(6)..while UNO didn't score off them, they seemed to come one right after another and that's got to wear the players out killing them off.

Does anybody know when Burt's suspension is up? Did he travel with the team?

I know Madalora was dinged up last weekend, which is why he didn't play then. He may not have healed up as much as hoped. Plus, Ropponen did a good job against Wilfred Laurier. And he certainly was not the reason RIT lost. I won't speculate on who starts now - whether coach will ride a Ropponen who is playing the best hockey of his NCAA career, or Watson/Madalora will get the call against UNO that put up 8 on Clarkson (how the mighty have fallen there).

I would bet that the suspensions are done (never known Coach to have multiple game suspensions). It sucks that they were not there. However, it does bode well that RIT can play right with a quality team like St. Cloud without Burt and Janda.

WITR just reported it was an NCAA mandated suspension, not one handed out by the team, for a slash or hit or something towards the end of the Wisconsin game.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Would be nice if we could see the play that resulted in Burts suspension.

Sounds like a lot of good and bad in the first two games, going to be like last years team trying to figure out roles and fill some holes, all in all I like there chances...
