RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

No one called it witter. I have no idea where they got that idea from. Most people called it I-T-R or W-I-T-R. I personally refuse to refer to it as witter because frankly, it's silly.

The name change was done as part of a formatting and station philosophy change. Less focus on crappy new music and more focus on new alternative music that people actually want to hear.

Your half right. it was philosophy change. but not musical philosophy. It's still the same format, we didn't change anything musically. We are still playing the same music, with no shift in focus. The presentation is just a little different.

Also, Zyklon, you do, uh, understand the negative connotations associated with that name right?

It's german for cyclone. Yes there was a gas that hitler used called "Zyklon B" in some of the concentration camps to gas people. I know this, but i prefer to think of it as cyclone. plus, it is not zyklon b. so who cares?

Mmm, no things have definitely changed musically. In the time since I trained there back in 06 until the recent change of management, the station has definitely taken a swing towards a more WBER style of music selection. I hear things now on WITR that I could have only dreamed of years ago. It would seem to me that the station is encouraging its DJ's to be more creative with their music selection. Maybe the guidelines haven't changed as far as required amounts of new music vs. anything else, but I definitely hear more personality from the DJ's that work there now.

I also like the fact that when I walk past the station the door is wide open 9 times out of 10 and there are tons of people milling about. It didn't used to be like that. The idea of opening WITR to be more accessible as a radio station is a great move, whether it was intentional or not.

Like I said, there are some things I like, and things I don't like, about the new WITR. Overall though, the station seems to have come out ahead, and I think that's great.

Personally it does not bother me. But I have seen people use this as a username on other forums and it has not been welcomed warmly. I'm just giving you a heads up.

It looks like Canisius is still playin the same ol beat em up hockey. I don't know if they have something against York, but there was 139 total penalty minutes!

I know when we played York it was a bit of a dirty game from York's side, so I wouldn't be surprised if Canisius decided to fight fire with fire. Niagara also beat York last night 9-0 so I'm sure they were tired and angry which leads to lazy penalties and a lot of frustration.

Oh, and Canisius sucks.

edit: here's our game stats from our win over York last year.

Can we ship Canisius to the CIS to play permanently? Seems like it would be a perfect fit.:p ;)
CC likes to play rough and the CIS allows fighting (I think). Of course, then they'd actually have to stand accountable for their actions. So maybe they wouldn't like it all that much, despite the fact that they would win more.

Wow - we go all this way, and nobody commented that RIT is ranked #18 in the preseason poll. Pretty cool.

Didn't it just come out yesterday?

Anyways, is this the first time an AHA team made the preseason top 20?

Is it really surprising? They were as high as 9th last year and coming off a strong regional and a Frozen Four appearance. That's gotta earn a little respect with no one really knowing how any of the losses for any of the teams will be felt.

I think Air Force was on it last year.

Yep-19th

Lose your starting goaltender and top 3 defensemen and it make it more difficult to gauge where the team will be. That said, if I am not mistaken, Bemidji did NOT crack the top 20 after their Frozen Four run a couple years ago - but made it on there shortly after.

How did the freshmen look in Saturdays game? In particular, The D guys (Descoteaux, Raibl, & Noyes).

They looked like they were not cohesive yet. Lots of mistakes. As the game went on though, they looked better and better. (6 shots in the last 30)

This may be kinda random. But me and my roommate were discussing yesterdays game. And we were wondering where Rocky (announcer) was. The new guy was not nearly as good. Anyone know?

I was just glad that the new guy new enough to call it a "scratch" other than that I did miss Rocky

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

I don't know if anyone updated this in the other thread but:

Demikes, Ringer, and Sarazin were all sent down to the ECHL after their AHL tryouts.

Tanev will be starting the season in Winnipeg.

Matic was released from his PTO with Hartford.

If I'm wrong it just shows how little I pay attention to pre-season (or even in-season, for that matter) polls, but... I could have sworn BSU was in the pre-season top 20. I know that they spent a large chunk of the season in the top 5. I would think it would be extremely difficult (especially for a "mid-major") to rise all the way from out of the rankings up to # 4 unless they managed to pile up 10 early season NC wins against teams like BC, Miami, and Denver. I know BSU's NC schedule consisted mainly of WCHA teams, which automatically makes it very tough, but still...
