Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: Get the thread open so I can sit at the Happy Hockey Table

Good Morning, Lodge!

I have a bad feeling about today at work. One of my co-workers is out today with a sick child which means I have to do her job and my job, and deal with every flareup that happens. This should be interesting.

My travel schedule changes daily, it seems, it gets frustrating. My trip to Sweden has been pushed back, yet again. This is the third time that has happened, luckily I don't have tickets booked this time, so no change fees. Now it looks like I won't be going until the first 2 weeks of May. Getting closer to bikini weather in Sweden! Also, I am supposed to be going to Indiana next week, but I haven't gotten any confirmation of when I need to be at the site, so who knows if I'll actually be going. On top of that, now I have a customer with an engine to troubleshoot, that the distributors can't figure out, in Washington DC, and its getting close to the point where I might have to go to the site and figure it out myself, so that might be next week. My guess is that either I have no travel next week, or I'll be expected to travel to DC and Indiana in the same week, it won't be one or the other.

Good morning Lodge. Sitting on a bus with my entire department on our way to an offsite meeting. At a bowling alley. We're going to have our meeting, then bowl, then have lunch and then back to the office. I appreciate that they do this but I really don't have the time today to be out of the office.

Mookie - no one came up to me last night to ask me if I knew you. Was half expecting it. :)

I just wanted to class it up a notch w hat or something.
You can get a cheap straw "cowboy" hat, they're only like 15 bucks. But I don't know how easy it is to find one out there.

Apparently the "customer" in DC that is having problems with an engine, that I may have to go troubleshoot next week is the NSA. Oh Joy.

You know... I should have realized the jeans bit... that won't be a problem... plaid on the other hand... don't own any... meh.

If you're not a sparkly kind of guy, if you've got a nice white button-down shirt and a pair of jeans you're already in good shape. Do you have a wide belt? Wide as in for jeans? Don't be wearing your thin dress belt with them jeans, son! In fact, I'd say the easiest thing you could buy that would countrify your outfit (without getting a pair of mookie-esque $500 boots :p) would be a big belt.

Brent, it'll take some time for me to come up with help for you. :p

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Patman, don't try too hard. Almost any button up shirt will be OK, as long as it doesn't look like something some ***** from a prep school would wear.

Is it at Ft. Mead or Belvoir? I know both forts reasonably well. I did shielded satellite ground communications terminals there many years ago. My wife used to work for the pizza company that delivered to the front gate of Meade.

I have no idea. I don't have any details on where it is. Still hoping that I don't have to go, but I'm thinking that I will have to go.

If I'm in DC, I expect Patman to get a beer with me!

Dang, son! Two things on that:

1) They weren't on display last weekend were they? I'd have liked to see those famous s**t stompers.
2) We were at Allens Boots in Austin, TX, two weeks ago. (Excellent shop, btw, expert help and friendly, too; a must-stop if you're in town, tell them Dave sent ya! :p) My wife and I asked a lot of questions, and we apologized for being so difficult. But they were glad we were actually paying attention to their advice. They said, "You know, there was a man in here last week from Chicago [the way they said it you could tell Chicago doesn't impress them very much] and he was trying on some $500 boots. He chose the ones he wanted, and his girl said to him, 'But those are the ones they said don't fit right,' and the guy said, right in front of us all, 'Who cares? It's just a novelty.'"

Check these out. Holy ****, those are some sweet boots. I think my favorites are the Pecan Belly Antique Caiman boots, with a close second being the Black Vintage Kangaroo. Too bad they're $1200 each.

edit: the Black Vintage Kangaroos are only $400!!!!

That is really stupid. My boots are probably the most comfortable shoes I have. Comfort is huge.
