Good Morning Lodge!

People must have lives in the summer?

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

Just got out of the world's most awkward meeting. Everything came to a complete head today.

Most of us can't stop laughing because 3/4 of the team has been asking for weeks for what came out of the meeting. If I don't know what the left hand is doing and they don't know what the right hand is doing, it's going to be a complete mess when we start juggling flaming chainsaws. Everyone needs to be not just versed, but be an expert on all aspects of this project. We have six engineers and two SMEs that form this large team. Early on we divided into two teams to plow through the initial workload. I later find out we have two teams because the two SMEs just don't get along at all.

One of the engineers re-suggested we combine the teams and one of the SMEs said, "That's just too many people on a team." To which I replied, "I haven't been on a black belt team or kaizen team that has had less than 8-10 members. Ever. Why is the most important project we've run need less than six on a team? It's kind of insane. We're all professional enough to know when to shut up and when to speak up." One of the SMEs replied, "No, I don't think everyone is. That's not my experience." One of the engineers was insulted by this, and kind of rightfully so. That's when it got really awkward.

So after something like a month of *****ing about having teams and one team being unaware of what the other team is doing, the head honcho says, "You two (SMEs), figure out how to combine the teams." The three managers left quietly and awkwardly, the rest of us stayed in the room and laughed. It was awesome. Most productive meeting we've had in a month. :D

We had an "invasion" here in DC over the weekend of mounted policemen from all over the country. (Part of National Police Week.) If dog owners are forced to clean up after their pets, why aren't they forced to clean up too? What a mess which I had to avert on my bike today!

Evening, Lodge. More OT, but I don't mind it, it's easy OT. Basically waiting for trucks to pick up product. Could use that extra money for summer vacation/wedding (not mine), etc.

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

Part of me wishes I got OT. But I just can't get away from the benefits of being salaried.

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

Heh. Speaking of work, I was giving someone a folder location for placing a test file today. She's on the D-squad, so I was being exceptionally thorough in my instructions.

ME: Okay, now type in My, space, Documents, backslash.
Her (Typing): "My space Documents\"

She typed in the word "space." I swear, it was like one of those cheesy, really bad movies, where the guy's reading pledge instructions, I, state your name... and the pledges all reply verbatim. This is the same woman who had to be instructed on how to enter her LAN ID into the test PC the other day.

I won't be OT for long. I'm about maxed out for salary. I'll get bonuses now, but we'll see how that pans out compared to OT pay.......
