Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

So my offical start day at the new job is January 15th. I still have to deal with movers but the new job is paying for everything including the packing. WOOT!
And I might be able to go to the FF after all, I am not going on the cruise with the family, so maybe I could drive to detroit for at least the saturday game. We will see.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

I was in a stabby mood yesterday; today I'm much happier. And you should come up to St. Paul for the Final Five. It will be fun!

It'd be a quick bus trip. :D

I had thought about using some Mother Mining product on it. :D Only problem is I need to get it fixed before July of next year; stupid Chicagoland emissions testing.

And right on cue, my car is all done. All they would tell me is "oh, you know your Check Engine light is on? By the way, you're going to need new springs and shocks soon too." :D

One of the most popular moves in MN was to remove emissions testing, about a decade ago. I'm all for doing good things for the environment, but it was a pain in the arse. :o

Here's hoping you don't get a nasty surprise like the one from my mom's dealer. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Heh - yeah right! Laundry list of things to do and trying to train the replacement. Whatever, 5 hours tomorrow and I'm done! *wipes hands*

Woot indeed - those f*ers are expensive! I'm really excited for you! :)

Bah!!! the best training you could give the poor lass is advice to look for another job. And then continue to post on USCHO for the rest of the day. ;) :D

We did go to lunch yesterday off-site and I told her I would answer any questions she had honestly (more or less). The first thing she said when we went to lunch -- I thought about quitting after Monday [her first day]!!

That must have been a city slicker thing, I don't remember ever having to do that where I grew up. And I guarantee that we wouldn't have passed, on several vehicles.

Hmmmmm.... kinda tempted to see what my schedule is going to be for january. That friday the 29th game in GR does kinda look tempting. And I guess I could sneak in a GV basketball game the next day as well. Three guesses as to who they're playing in Allendale. :D

Smart one you got there. :D

Color me surprised.....except for the surprised part, that the guy did not show up. Seriously, I need to figure out who owns the management company of this place and send Sloe Gin there to hammerpunch them. Nice woman at the management company told me the guy would be coming in ~11am, could I leave my bin unlocked. I said Great! I have that day off, have him call me en route and I'll meet him there to unlock it (why would I leave my storage unit UNLOCKED??) She emails me back the he is usually at the building around 11am - he will either call or knock on my unit. Of course, neither happens.

I go downto the lobby, the cleaning crew was there. I ask one of them if they know the guy. The non-English speaking vacuum cleaner guy calls him on his cell and I can tell that the guy doesn't want to talk to me but vacuum cleaner guy says "She's standing right here." Heh. Get on the phone and he's like, "Yeah, I was down there this morning and it wasn't unlocked so I left." I had to explain that woman from the management company told me that he was supposed to call or knock on my door when he got to the building. I told him I wasn't going to leave the bin unlocked, that I would walk down and unlock it and show him the mess. He said he was coming in the morning, probably early and I was like, I don't care how early you come but you need to call me. And then he said "It all comes off with warm soapy water." I said "That's nice. Bring a broom and dustpan too as there is a lot of plaster pieces and dust." What an ***. And I plan to stand there and watch him clean it as well.

The only impact to me may be my liver :o

Last night Mrs. and I went to Target, Cub, Wine Store, Liquor Store, Best Buy and the gas station. I currently have 240lbs. of rock salt, 150lbs. of Chicken feed and 40lbs. of Bird seed in the back of my truck. I also put the tire chains on my ATV.

Again - Bring it! :D

I don't see how bird feed and chicken feed hurt your liver:D

Oh actually I could do that, 6 hour drive. I proably can't come up for the friday game, but the saturday game is totally doable, I will put it in my calender now!

Yeah, I was going to see if I could stuff everything in my car, but once they said tehy were paying for everything I am trying to scramble and find furniture now.

Hint taken. Actually do you know about women's teams in the area, I found a couple but they are nothing like the league I play in Mass. I might just end up playing in a men's league.

Don't see that happening. But I have traveled there quite a few times for fun and work. I'll let you know the next time I'm in town.
Yeah I know you are quite partial to the cities, but I had to mention it anyways. Defaintly let me know when you are in town.

No, I don't sadly. One of my co-workers plays in a league, I'll ask him if he knows anything about women's teams.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

The snow has arrived right on time to provide good coverage for the slopes in Ski Country in Summit and Eagle counties. Now, here's hoping the CDOT plows keep I-70 east and west of Eisenhower Tunnel passable all week. Could be some vintage conditions on the slopes at Breck and Vail this week. :)

Yeah I found one women's team, they play on friday and saturdays (bleh) and they travel all over just for games!!! I dont mind traveling a bit for a tournament when you get 3--5 games in but traveling to Indiana and Wisconsin just to play hockey....well I will play with men then. Besides the locker room view would be more interesting for me anyways.

Yeah my job opportunities would be alot more plentiful if I wasn't looking to stay in the cities. It's just that while I love to travel for fun the cities is where my home is. Both literally and physically. I puchased a home over six years ago and it's where I want to live. Will I get to? That's yet to be determined.

GR is only 3 hours away.

Ohh I say yes to hammer punching

Oh I didnt realised you owned a home, that would make it alot harder for you to just pick up and go.

I've never made it well know on the board because for the most part I try to keep the details of my personal life private. Plus I realize nobody really wants to hear my problems. That's been made very clear to me even with my friends. This is what happens when you're always on the go for work and have a lot more casual friends then close friends.

I will vent on the board sometimes.

It's really fun always being away from your friends, family, and home for work but my life is glamorous because I get to travel. This is not meant to be a shot at you or anybody in particular but it's really "interesting" that people have this impression of me. The amount of time I've spent away from friends, family and home for work has had multiple negative consequences on my personal life so what is so glamorous about it? This is why I'm currently focusing more on my personal life then the work situation. I truly believe you work to live and not live to work. I'm not getting any younger.
