Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Morning Lodge!

I think Plante finally passed out. I'm impressed he was up drinking as long as he was!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

I wonder how much of it was an act. I didn't see any typos in his Assocation thread posts.
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing, he posted at 1:23 in the Happy Ramaiodfhoidhfodisfnoi thread at there was no hint of drunk posting...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Morning Lodge.

Dropped my car off for a L-O-F at the dealership close to work (they're GM, just up the street from the office, and there isn't a "fast lube" place nearby), I fully expect them to give me a checklist of items that "they need to fix soon."

Yes, I know that my "Check Engine" light is (solid) on. Yes, I have heard/see clues that I may have a failing EGR valve. No, I'm not paying you $50 for you to plug in the OBD II and tell me that the error code is P0440 - or "Some random evap leak," another $100 to smoke test it, and then another $400 for the GM OEM part and 2 hrs book time for the tech to install it.

An auto value store will check the light for free.

That, and he went from no errors to ;rcjqee;iubef;ne;n in about half an hour. Not that I've never done that before. :o

Morning, Lodge. Apparently Mom's Saab is p.o.'d about going out of production - she took it in to the mechanic and it needs $2,000 worth of service   (broken springs, oil leak, new serpentine belt...)

aparch: Eh, for that price, may as well just replace the EGR valve yourself. It's probably like a $10 part.

And they have. That's how I know what the trouble code is. :D

This dealership is a little shady though. I needed work done earlier this year on tie-rods and control arms; they wanted to charge me double the price for half the work that another GM dealer would do it for. I only use them for oil changes (since they're close to work) and to get a ballpark for work that needs to be done. They're good about finding every little thing wrong.

Take off your pants!!! :D ;)
Ok

The office just had a very "interesting" meeting/discussion. I might soon need my "Will design roadways for food" sign. It sure is great being a civil engineer in a state that has was very little transportation work. Which has been the case for almost three years now.
Move to Chi-town, move to Chi-town!!!

Everything in life happens for a reason and I've learned alot about myself and others. The next few years will be interesting as I move into the next phase of my life. Thanks
I agree, althought sometimes when you are going thru the crappy reasons its hard to see thru the storm.

Sloe Gin, can you hammerpunch God?
I would say yes.

may break my bones but whips and chains excite me?

Wait, was that out loud?
Ok

For those who haven't heard, Anchorage is now all but a done deal. I got the Memorandum of Understanding today (the form that says "yeah, I agree to move here and finish my two years, and in exchange you give me an official job when I finish") from the head engineer up there, and the official date we've set is March 14.
That sounds sweet! Congrats!

I have a job where I can't constantly post in tLodge and people forget who you are. :p
Yeah I am proably going to be in that boat when I start my new job, but then again I havent been in here much lately anyways.

I was tempted to make my first ever post on an HG-YBI thread, but I have not yielded to temptation. :D
HG-YBI is no longer cool, because I dont post in there anymore. :)

This reminds of a co worker I use to work with. She took an interest in me but I wasn't interested in her. She was hot but not my type so I firgured there was no need mixing business with pleasure. She is really involved in her Mormon church so I told her I was an athethist. For the next couple of weeks she started inviting me to her church in effort to save me. I finally came clean that I wasn't an athetheist. After she quit the company we went out once but didn't hit it off. We didn't have much in common.
But Mormons have special underpants.

d^mn! people sure are cranky this week!

Tech has a hockey history class. That is pretty cool.
Oh that does sound cool!

can I stab everyone?
I would prefer you didnt stab me, but if you must can you do it in a squishy part. Thanks.

Revisions, I had a 65-year old grad student/grandmother, who was the essence of an ex-hippie. Biked in from South Range every morning (that's about six miles ), chose to live in a small house with no electricity (candles for light & a fireplace for heating), and probably lit up a few in her day.
Sounds like my future.

Yeah, but one of Mandy's favorate things to yell at the Refs would be how her Blind father could ref better than them.
We can put him with my dad who can't walk (yet another scare similarity between me and WT, I know!). And make comments of how they can't skate either.

Morning, last full day at the office. :D

Not much else to report.
Yeah!!!!

Quiz and I are planning a Boston trip, but probably not until next year's hockey season. She wants to get back to her alma mater, I want to go back to that dive bar near the airport where shots are cheap and I can talk college hockey with the locals. :) Plus we both want to eat tons of delicious food. And there might be some posters we want to meet up with...;)

And Brent is probably having a heart attack right now...
But I am moving away. :-P

So my offical start day at the new job is January 15th. I still have to deal with movers but the new job is paying for everything including the packing. WOOT!
And I might be able to go to the FF after all, I am not going on the cruise with the family, so maybe I could drive to detroit for at least the saturday game. We will see.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

I just check the codes on my truck myself. You just have to know the trick. On my truck, you turn the key switch on and off 3 times quickly, and the code will show up on the digital odometer readout.

If I had a garage (or a friends) I probably would. I'm off work from Christmas through New Years, and I may just go visit my friend who has a repair shop a half hour from the house and have him check it out.

Pontiac doesn't have that nifty trick (that I know of). Nor can I wedge a paperclip in the ODB port to short it and flash the "Check Engine" Morse Code style.

From what I've read, that error code coupled with a solid "check engine" is a common fault with Grand Prix's. While it still needs to be fixed, there was zero concern from every source I've seen.

Just cover the light with duct tape, preferably manufactured by large, St. Paul area based, conglomerate. Speaking of said conglomerate, things are looking up for me. Will know a lot more the first week in January.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

My apologies to anyone who will be impacted negatively by the Xmas blizzard. Not! :p

The only impact to me may be my liver :o

Last night Mrs. and I went to Target, Cub, Wine Store, Liquor Store, Best Buy and the gas station. I currently have 240lbs. of rock salt, 150lbs. of Chicken feed and 40lbs. of Bird seed in the back of my truck. I also put the tire chains on my ATV.

Again - Bring it! :D

I had thought about using some Mother Mining product on it. :D Only problem is I need to get it fixed before July of next year; stupid Chicagoland emissions testing.

And right on cue, my car is all done. All they would tell me is "oh, you know your Check Engine light is on? By the way, you're going to need new springs and shocks soon too." :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

W000T!!!! have fun slacking off a lot. Not like they can fire you now, Suckers!!!! :D
Heh - yeah right! Laundry list of things to do and trying to train the replacement. Whatever, 5 hours tomorrow and I'm done! *wipes hands*

Woot indeed - those f*ers are expensive! I'm really excited for you! :)
