Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Please read this post only if you have a sense of humor.

I just got this from a buddy of mine.

Yesterday on Oprah there was a story about a little girl. It was a sad story. She had been abused most of her life. Earlier this week social services intervened and took her out of the abusive environment. Oprah asked the little girl "if there was one place on earth you could pick to live where would it be?" After much thought the teary eyed little girl looked up at Oprah and said "I want to live with the University of MN Gopher hockey team." To Oprah's astonishment she replied with "why the University of MN hockey team" to which the little girl replied "because they can't beat anybody"

:D :p :)

The Gophers were definitely in a giving mood on Sunday. They made some great tape to tape passes to set up goals. Unfortunately, it was for the wrong team. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

I was all excited to post this link and then noticed they aren't running this weekend (11/21 - 11/22). Next time, eh. :(

Yeah... my bad. Should've told my museum's management not to install the water main until NEXT weekend. :o ;)

There's a big pit in front of our ready barn where two streetcars are located, the one car available is out of service for brake issues, and our other location is closed for the weekend too. If the g's come down to cityslickerville again though, or if they have a bit of time Saturday morning, I can give them a tour of our backshop and all three cars :)

You run that? I had no idea....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

I still miss my grandma (on my dad's side) and it's been almost 7 years now. I was alot closer to her then any of my other grand parents. I would give anything just to spend an hour with her. She was such an awesome person.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Still....very cool. Doesn't San Francisco run an old Twin Cities streetcar they have in their collection during the summer months?

They do - several sisters to one of ours (a 1947 PCC car, art deco style and wicked quick for something of that vintage), and one is painted in Twin City Rapid Transit colors like ours. There's a number of ex-TCRT PCCs floating around, several cities picked them up to make new old-style streetcar lines after their careers in Cleveland and Newark.

Five of the early 1900s TCRT-built standard cars are running too - three with us (one that served in Duluth), one in Maine and another in Wisconsin - as well as a smattering of other builders' cars that served in Minnesota. We're restoring a few more.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Today's hump day is not going well in the world of wT. Yesterday we had a meeting with the boss' boss where were told a bunch of our work is going to China and we will be having layoffs affecting our department between now and Christmas. Of course we weren't told how many. Only that our overhead costs are currently at 50% when they should be around 18% (mostly due to not selling product.......write more checks!).
I'll be writing one soon for the Houghton trip...if you don't get laid off, I'll assume it was because of me. :)

You may need to do the "penny in a jar" method then. I understand it can be an excellent benchmarking tool :)
I'm unfamiliar with the "penny in a jar method"...not that that should surprise anyone.

:(

My Grandpa passed away. My mom was crying when she called to tell me. I wish I could give her a hug (which is exactly what her brother said to her when he called and told her the news).

:(
Sorry, trumpet :(

*hugs*

Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and hugs everyone. I appreciate it.

I know that feeling. Both of my mom's parents were great people. I think my grandpa is the sweetest man I've ever known. I was really hoping if i ever found the right man for me that I'd be able to run him by my grandpa and get his approval.

Start with 2 jars; 1 empty, 1 full of pennies. Every time you do the deed, place a penny into the first jar. At the end of the year, reverse the jars. Chances are very good you'll have change leftover at the end of year 2!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

Afternoon, Lodge. Got my daym Jeep back - it better not break anything else, or I'm just going to name it "Edmund Fitzgerald II" and drive it into Lake Superior
Will you retain Gordon Lightfoot to sing at the funeral? :D
Remember, don't wear your bibs and straw hat around town. And you may as well leave your corn cob pipe at home, you can't smoke anywhere in the cities any longer any way.
You forgot to remind him to brush the chicken shi(p)t off his bibs ;) :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 90: This Poll Sucks!!!

My best friend's wife [Barbara] was involved in a car accident over a year ago. Since that time she's had shoulder problems stemming from the incident. She's scheduled to have rotator cuff surgery this Friday. For those of you who keep a prayer list I'd be appreciative if you'd add Barbara to it. Thank you.

Done.

For those of you who could care less about my family stuff please move along. Nothing to see here. ;)

So, the g family will be taking a break this weekend and spending a couple days in cityslickerville. (It is Mrs. g's birthday today and we will be celebrating that tonight and this weekend) Hanging out at the pool with the little g's, taking little g on a ride on the light rail and taking in the Mall of America are on our agenda. We also have a wedding to attend on Saturday. So, FIL calls me this morning and says "I heard that you and Mrs. g and the boys will be staying in cityslickerville Friday though Sunday. Would you mind if me, mil, bil and the g family go in on a suite and spend the weekend together?" I poiltely resonded more or less with "yes I would mind as this time was meant to spend with my wife and kids." fil called Mrs. g and is acting like the world is coming to an end.

I don't think I was out of line was I?

Absolutely not. If you did everything the in-laws wanted, you wouldn't get to do what you want!

You see Billy, birds make nests and bees make honey.

Or

Little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"

The father answers: "Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway. Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo.

Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe.

We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive.

As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little Pop-Up appeared and said: You've Got Male.

;) :D :p :)

:D :D

we have vowed to not let this happen. :D

Yeah good luck with that.;)

By year 2 SG might be able to think of a better use for his dollar bills. ;) :D

See above.

Sorry wT. Prayers for you and the family.
