Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

It's in the crock pot for the next 9 1/2 hours. Meat toughness isn't an issue. I'm more concerned with the gravy and making sure it doesn't break down or separate from the broth.

It's almost exactly what Campbell's Chunky Soup is. Bigger chunks of things, and with gravy instead of broth.

You're doing it wrong.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

The only reason this would be SOMEWHAT justifiable is if this is a travel team/highest level of play, where realistically only the best should be. If this is a house league team, or lower level/lowest level, it's uncalled for, and nothing short of bull****. At this level, the kids deserve to play, winning comes second, nothing more nothing less. I would bring this up with the association if thats an option and have this guy canned, it shouldn't be happening in minor hockey.

It is the 2nd division of a higher league- not town. If they had cut him because he wasn't good enough I would have gotten that. They didn't have the ballz to say that.

And to break my heart even more- he was cutting coupons out of the paper today to help save the coach money because they use bottled water. Funny how that makes me cry more than all the other shiz put together.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Made a hamsteak for dinner tonight. Think I'm going to throw the juice and leftovers in with a pork shoulder I have and some vinegar and make some pulled pork :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

I bet you'd try it in tube form.
No, I'd want it to be home-made, then it would probably actually be good. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if something like that hasn't been done on Iron Chef.

edit: ordered chinese delivery, it was very tasty. the steamed dumplings at the place close to me are absolutely amazing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

I'm craving a McGriddle. There isn't much I like at McDonalds. But I like those.

Too bad I have to wait like 9 hours to have one. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Add some Coke too.

Normally I just soak the pork in boiling water and vinegar for a few hours to soften the meat to make it easier to pull. After a few hours, drain most of the water, add BBQ sauce (though I may try and make my own this year), and let sit for several more hours. I don't drink soda (don't like things that are overly sweet).

This time, I'm going to boil the left over juices from the hamsteak with some vinegar (and add water, if necessary) and then go from there.

Sounds good. I have a really good recipe for pulled pork. Dry rub, put the shoulder in a tin pan, add some coke, vinigar, mustard, & brown sugar, cover and throw it on the grill for several hours; basting occassionally. Really good.

I've never made it on a grill (having only just left city apartments). I use the slow cooker to just keep constant heat on it.
