Congrats poppa! ;)

Just found out Edina hockey association will have 12 peewee teams this year. I knew the 9 they listed wouldn't be enough, but 12? 1 A, 2 B1, 4 B2, 5 C. There were 12 teams for this group as squirts 2 years ago, I figured there'd be some attrition as they went to PW (and start checking). Fingers still crossed that JR gets above the 50% line and makes a B team (but not confident - he's got his dad's speed and his mom's stamina - worst of both worlds  ).

For anyone looking for cheap entertainment hang out when teams are posted at Braemar. :D

BTW, I know goldy well enough to realize he isn't one of "those" parents, however he is definitely more of an exception in Edina. :)

Although I haven't met Goldy in person, I agree that he appears to be a decent human being ;)
As a Wayzata Alum (both parents and my kids as well) I don't offer to many props to cake eaters  :D

No posting. The coaches call their players after the draft is done. Then only one person hears the screaming (unless a dad is in the EHA room when the draft takes place - like if he's coaching another team at that level, or on the board ;) ). I would bet there is no higher percentage of drama queens here than any other association - just higher profile ones. I still wish I heard the straight story from someone who was there that night, BB has been very level headed when I've dealt with him in most cases.

BTW, a former Goph may be the one to worry about this year. I hear Ben H. has been pretty vocal with his displeasure on some matters of coaching quality at the top level since last season. One of his kids is at the same age level as mine and one a year behind. Maybe I'll ask him about it at the fundraiser party this Friday. It's at the Edina Country Club and it'll be my only chance to get inside that place. ;)

ETA: The one association that I think can claim a higher level of achievement in youth hockey than Edina of late is Wayzata. Their teams for the last 10 years have been incredible.

What's amazing about Edina is the ability to consistently carry the success from the youth teams through to the HS level - something Wayzata has not yet been able to accomplish.

Trust me, I am fully aware, it's amazing how many next Sidney Crosby's get placed on B/C teams. I ran evaluations one year at my son's association, the only job worse at any association is ice coordinator.

Tell me about it. Yeah, Wayzata does well in football and soccer, but not hockey. I know there are a lot of really good players in the Wayzata travel and house leagues that won't play for the HS team. Something about the coach, apparently. My daughter was the only one of the three kids who could skate, so I can only go by the comments that other parents have made regarding Davis. And even then I have to take it with a grain of salt.

Morning Lodge

wT, how's the new home working out? I was thinking of you and some other new homeowners I know while removing some 35+ year old junipers and other shrubs from the south side of my home the other day. I can definitely see myself and Mrs. in a town home in the next 10-15 years. I'm growing weary of the maintenance inside and outside the house. There's ALWAYS something to do :o

This is precisely why I live in a row house. No yardwork for me. I did more than enough as a kid and working landscaping in high school and college.

It's also why my parents moved into a loft in the warehouse district when my sister graduated from high school.

Good point. I never did all this stuff alone when the kids still lived here.

I miss my free labor. :o

Evening Lodge.
You should read the singles thread...:p
I'm not single :p :D
Eastern time sucks, this is too early for me, I want one more hour of sleep.
What really sucks is going from Mountain or Pacific to Eastern Time. Mornings come WAY too early!
They did their work. I came out to the receptionist's desk, they hand me the bill . . . they've done two procedures instead of just the one. The bill is now $900 instead of $450. They did one of the procedures I told them not to do. He11, I was just lying there, numbed, watching the TV on the ceiling. I couldn't have told you if they did one or *four* procedures.
Sounds to me like the dentist owes you a free procedure.
:) Umm, appearantly, when I ask him. So, like, 11:30 last night or so. :)
Congrats! Hope things keep going well :)
There's ALWAYS something to do :o
No kidding! I have 3 buildings that need painting, one then needs a new roof, a bathroom that needs to be remodeled and another that needs to be installed, a shelter belt that needs many older dead and dying trees replaced....the list never ends!

first thing i thought of is to yell i'm not paying... then slowly try to barter $450 worth of time in a exam room with three dental assts in their uniform (to start)

Make sure you specify the "procedure". :D
"....got your whole fist up there doc?"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

One would assume, yes.
Although, I'll admit, I missed you a tiiiiiny bit. Still coming up here for a series?
Possible, but doubtful as of right now...we'll know more as time progresses. it's kind of a thing where I look at my schedule, things are in order, and I just make the trip. I'm sure it'd be too easy to get tickets, so no worries.
bite me.
Arbys is nasty. Although most fast food is nasty...
Definitely have to agree with you on this one..

And you guys talking about your hockey up there, all we're trying to do down here is get a little respect, as you know, we're the joke of MN hockey in southern minnesota, and we like that..See us at state two years ago, or even Hutchinson last year, we're slooooowly getting there. We'd kill for the last 10 seasons that Wayzata and Edina have had..:p I do have to say, I'd prefer Wayzata over Edina, and especially over those *****s from EP.
