Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Don't rush yourself into the working world, which also has that effect on people.

ehhh, the USCG will keep me from being an alcoholic, since I legally cannot work with anything over a .04 once I graduate, and this is something I've wanted to do for yearssssss, so I doubt it will make me depressed. Either way, I guess it could be called Pick My Poison?

On another note:

Student life? Yep, they're still awesome. Just shored up a job for the semester (will be the year, depending on my schedule for the spring) at the student mailroom for 8 hours a week. It's minimum wage, but it will pay for drinking money, anyways.

Morning Lodge

Off again today. One of the retirees from my work called me this weekend and asked if I'd go see "Inglorious Basterds" with him, since his wife refuses to see it. I told him I was off Monday and we could go see the 12:30 matinee today.
So I'm going to see IG again with a 73 YO Jewish guy.
He's going to love this movie! :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Good Morning Lodgers!

Not really looking forward to work this week, but I'm happy that the long labor day weekend is coming soon. I'm also seeming to get a cold...sore throat, cough, nasal congestion...I'm not very happy about that.

So, I start class tomorrow.
haha
So MEg got gf_dl and you got Biddco? :D
I think the offer was on the table, but I didn't take MEg up on it. :p
My Saturday night alone consisted of several 7&7's, ordering pizza, watching nip/tuck and californication and falling asleep on the couch.
Well if his gf wore him out in 10 days so he needed to have sex with biddco as a change of pace, I guess he'd be too tired to remove the double entendre.
Honestly, I didn't notice it until you guys mentioned it, but I would have left it anyway. A little entertainment isn't a bad thing.
'Morning, Lodge. Nothing like starting off the morning with a fresh cup of parental disappointment.
I think mine are disappointed regularly...seems normal now. My mom is mad because she wants grandkids and I told her that I don't like kids, so if I end up having them it would be an accident. While that is partially true, I can see circumstances where I might change my mind, but I needed to just get her off my back.
You just want to be 18 so you can legally bang every adult walking the earth.
I think she can do that now...Isn't the age of consent in Michigan 17?
go to bed, Michael.
at least I get laid occasionally, unlike most of you.
Yay, I'm not most of you anymore!:p

Maybe you got what Brent had. Then you can lose control of one of your eyes and get a CAT scan.

Are you referencing your dick here or biddco's?

Just rant at her and tell her that children are parasites. Tell her you'd rather get a tape worm as that would take less time to reach maturation and would result in less discomfort and cost to you.

I said legally with all adults walking the earth, not just michigan's.

Which part of her were you?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Morning Lodge! Up early getting the running group breakfast. Jarlsberg and pepper omelet, fruit and cookies. Coffee. lots of coffee.

Also watching this California fire. They thinks Mount Wilson may burn!!
Can you come make breakfast for my running group? :)

Good morning, Lodge. Off to Grand Rapids in a few to pick up more fundraising goodies...

True. Some more than others. :(

Now that sounds like a good deal.

Morning, Lodge. Parents went off to the State Fair, and I'm sticking around here to buy/sell (mostly sell) old textbooks, cash my paycheck, and generally get things done.

EDIT:
'Morning, Lodge. Nothing like starting off the morning with a fresh cup of parental disappointment.

Just read Facebook, and yeah, that's tactless. One more reason why I'm glad my folks aren't on Facebook.

Oh, mine are, too. It's been 24 years of it. The latest round goes as follows:

I'm helping out in the band for the first game--the drill was written for more people than are in the band this fall. Given the nature of the drill, it's not something that can be condensed or altered, you pretty much have to have the bodies on the field. Well, both the band president and the director approached me. And my logic--well, why not? I already got the day off to go to the game anyway, and I'm working mostly days so I won't have to take time off work for the rehearsals I need to be at. Yeah, it looks a little pathetic and Favre-esque coming back again after I said I wouldn't, but oh well--it's the super nerdy thing that I've loved since I was 15 and it's one more chance to do it. Well, my mother's reaction? "Seriously? Have you sent out any resumes yet? You know you still owe me money." Yes, seriously. Yes, I have but I haven't heard anything back, and since I've committed to quite a few things in Marquette I'm ok with being here another year. It's not ideal but at least I have some kind of income and I'll get by until I can try again. And yes, I know I owe you money, your check is in the mail once I get rent and loans paid.

If this was a running related thing, I really think she'd be ok with it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

So, I'm going back to the State Fair either tonight or Wednesday night...I bought something in the grandstand yesterday, and I need to go back to pick it up. I'm not too mad because there are still some food items that I haven't had yet that I'm going to eat while I'm there, still this seems pretty expensive to just go there and pick up my purchase.

I'm volunteering with meals on wheels today, for the first time. I'm looking forward to it, since I've heard many good things about the program from people in the lodge and from others.

Well done! I do it at least once a month and really enjoy it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Lemme see... no response from the grad school in regards to what appears to be an issue with my transcript... and I haven't been able to contact the woman i need to talk to about moving my personal goods.... and I move next tuesday

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Well, to be fair, outside of Houghton, the rest of us have these things called "standards."

Even I could get laid if I had no standards. :p
Actually this is probably true, even though it kinda ruins the MNS jokes...
Don't lower your standards.
Congratulations. Have you set a date? :) :p ;) :D
They sell those things at the state fair? :p
I don't imagine it would go over to well with most women if they found out that the engagement ring was bought during a 50% off State Fair Blowout Sale!!!!! at the grandstand.;)
and I want to re-itterate the point, I just started going out with this girl a couple weeks ago, gmann might be jumping the gun a little bit...

I just got back and I enjoyed it. I am planning on volunteering more with meals on wheels, hopefully once a month.

Why? If it's beautiful and/or meaningful, who cares where it came from?

Taking lunch for the first time since last Monday. Heard a rumor that I might be getting a call from BU today, which would certainly make life a smidgen better. *fingers, toes, eyes, legs crossed*
