Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Congrats Twitchette!

Finished 1535th out of 20,000 in my poker donkament today. My winnings? A whopping 35 cents! Woohoo!

Started with 2K in chips, and I built my stack to about 8K with 16000 people left. Then my flush ran into a full house, and a couple hands later my KK ran into pocket 3's....with another 3 coming on the flop. Down to about 900 chips, I built my way back up to about 5K in chips (avg stack at that point was about 12K), and then went on a major rush to get to about 35K in chips, double the avg stack.

Then it all fell apart when my AK ran into KT, with Kxx on the board, and me pushing when a T hit on the turn. :(

I ran into only one real donkey, who provided me with most of my chips in the first 1/2 hour. That helped. I only saw AA once in about 350 hands, though, which didn't help, especially when no one wanted to play that hand.

Oh well, it was a fun way to kill an afternoon. :)

Wow! Not one, but two teams from Alaska, Mercyhurst and Michigan.....talk about excitement!?! Say, will Billy "They Shoot, They Score" Sauer be making an appearence as Emeritus Sieve Du Jour?

103 in OKC. So is the cool weather expected to continue throughout your stay? ;)
Shot, are you taking the summer off? where have you been?

Rube, what website do you play on?

Full Tilt. Despite the laws, you can play there with ease (you can deposit straight from your bank account, no third party needed, and I think you can use prepaid credit cards/etc). I don't play for real money anymore, because I found that the donk factor at the levels I can afford to gamble with is too high, which results in me having meltdowns.

So I just go with freerolls, FTPoints (which you earn in real money games/freerolls), and play money when I just need a fix. Example: the higher level play money games, say 10K entry for a single table tourney aka sit'n'go, they play like a $5 real money game.

I've been there since the days when 5K-6K players on the site was a huge number. Nowadays, they run about 80K-90K players on an average normal time (weeknights, weekend afternoons, etc).

It's reputable, owned by a group of pro players (such as Ferguson, Bloch, Hansen, etc), and I like the layout and game selection. Plus, as part of all the pros contracts on there, if a pro is playing or chatting, it's really them (they get fined/penalized if it's not them, it's happened once, and the pro got nailed hardcore by the site, since it was their rep and all). I had the privilege of chatting with Matusow one night before a crapload of other players found him on the table. He's actually a pretty nice guy.

just getting into the Soo right now, I definitely slept all day, it was pretty glorious.

HF: we should be up your way probably tomorrow afternoon at some point, so flashing lights won't do much:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

So I drove all the way to Lansing this morning to take the GMAT, because I'm lazy and didn't schedule it until it was almost too late. Luckily I was able to get in this morning, even though it required a much longer trip than I had hoped for.

Anyway, some of the security procedures for the exam are beyond paranoid. For the uninitiated, the whole exam room is monitored and video/audio recorded. You are required to get these fancy 'palm vein ID scans' every time you leave and enter the room (scheduled breaks, etc.).

Regardless, it's done and I got a preliminary 600 out of 800, which is good enough for the programs I'm looking at.

Oh, and I was told there would be math, but I still sieved on it. :p :o
Congrats on the test! Have another beer on me!

Sister of Twitch just got accepted into nursing school!
Another congrats and a beer!

Sleep all day? How do you do that?

Evening, Lodge. Had a great run this morning, followed by a great breakfast, followed by a great and mad day at work. Feels good to kick off my shoes and relax before having to wake up and head back into the madness tomorrow morning.

A 600 hundred is good enough for pretty much any program in the country. The last time I took it I scored a 550 because I was unprepared and the math section is stupid and pretty much kicked my behind. I plan on retaking it in the next month or so. I think I got all of the principles down, if I score a 600 I will be thrilled but I'm hoping for a 700 or better.

(641): F_CK TREES I CLIMB BUOYS MOTHERF_CKER
(1-641): STOP listening to that song

This made me laugh out loud. I have no idea why. But I do like the song. :D

Ditto. Too much "algebra under pressure" for someone who hasn't had a serious math course since Calc I almost four years ago.

If I can score a 600 having signed up for it the night before and without spending a single minute preparing for the exam, I don't see a need to retake it in the context of the programs I'm looking at. The UPenns, Haaahvahds, and Ylaes of the world aren't on my radar anyway. :)

Failure. Go get my fries. :p

What happened to the rest of the polls? Have we mourned the loss of "Wee in the Shower?" yet?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

I wish it was a day of rest, but instead, it's just myself and a manager on the sales floor today at work. At least the company picnic's after work, and I can relax then.

Good morning, Lodge. Beautiful day outside today.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Who's he? Tech never faced him. :(
Billy "the Sieve" Sauer graduated this year, and really only had one great season (2007-08). That is, until the tournament, when he gave up 3 goals to Notre Dame in the 1st period. The team roared back (esp. in the 3rd), but lost by one goal. He was decent, but tended to choke in the big games.
Back from biking. Nice day in 202 Land, also the parts of 301 Land and 703 Land that I rode in.
You're the man! If I rode through three different area codes I'd be baked vulture bait in a roadside gulley somewhere. More 100+ temperatures today.

Good morning, Lodgitoids!
