For all the time you spend away I'm surprised as well... But I'm a man who likes having his place to dwell

Well, that's why I'm getting something easily trailerable. If I'm home and see its a nice day out but I don't feel like golfing or doing something else, I can easily latch onto a boat and drive 8 miles to the boat ramp and go out on the water. Just looking to get a day-boat, nothing more.

I'm not looking to live on a boat when I'm not at work, hence no houseboat (plus, those can be pretty pricey).

I didn't realize he was going to tour NASCAR tracks.
I meant to say one of those motor coaches, that are built on a bus frame. Not a "party bus".

Another 2 weeks and we're going to be tripping all over those **** fools again won't we Hammer??

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #2*2*7*6: It's Summer, why is there MATHS?!

Converted bus usually refers to a Greyhound converted to an RV, with extended sides on hydraulics. NOT cheap. One of my old college roommate's parents did that for a living. It's amazing. Generally runs on two car batteries, and has a master bedroom, full kitchen/laundry, and A/V options up the wazoo. It's a 1BR apt on wheels.

Yeah, I've been in some of those RV's and they are pretty dang posh once you slide the sides out. There's one of the GVSU alumni has that has a big flat screen TV mounted to the side of it in with speakers. They've got this whole bar assembly that they'll set up and they'll sit there and watch whatever game is on during the afternoon while they're tailgating for the GVSU game later one that night. are usually pretty free with other fans checking out the inside of their rig and helping themselves to a beer. Just don't use the bathroom in it if you don't have to.

I wanna say (and this was mid-90s) a converted ran about $1MM......yup.

3 friends and I rented one of those (not top of the line converted Greyhound...but pretty nice) and drove it from San Antonio to South Padre Island with 2 kegs for 4 days one Spring Break....crammed about 25-30 people on it at one point, almost got arrested twice and almost had our bullhorn taken away. We somehow got the deposit back. :D

Apparently doing this with a school bus is a thing. Pros are they're usually cheap to acquire, the chassis is tougher and rides higher than an RV, they're surprisingly wide, you can do whatever you feel like to the interior, and the diesel engines last forfreakinever if properly maintained. Cons are who knows what condition they're in when you acquire them, the roof is usually only 6 feet tall and pretty much requires a conversion, and they're kinda frowned upon at RV parks because they look ghetto (if they let you in, they'll try to herd you to a crappy spot out of sight of the 1%.)

They've gotten a lot cheaper thanks to $4 a gallon gas and the economy crapping the bed. A nice used fifth wheel with fold outs can be had for low/mid five figures. An RV probably low/mid six figures.

I've told you this story before you ever discovered Tucker Max. Driving up and down the "strip", lighting cigarettes with a blow torch, getting the RV stuck in the sand 3 times before noon the first day down there...."Let my people go!" "You want to be next?" "No, sir, I'm done"

BTW...what TM story do you think I'm stealing from?

Tailgating in Iowa City I've seen some crazy motor homes. 500K-1M crazy. Marble floors, granite counter tops, TV compartments outside, 4 slide outs, etc. absolutely beautiful. I know that's not a converted bus, but it's remarkable that things on wheels can be that extravagant.

We got some bad thunderstorms just north of here. My voice is still on the answering machine at the office, so I know we didn't lose power. Dammit.

We had storms? Didn't hear a thing.

Morning tLodge. I need to go to bed. Also, I'm surprised that no one mentioned that the pole is teh scuk. Usually someone disapproves.

We did that while you were still in elementary school (or maybe hadn't been born yet) - only there were nine of us and we went to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. It was on the strip in Lauderdale where the cops stopped us and asked the driver "do you have any idea how many things I could cite you for?" He made us get everyone off the roof and all the extra folks out of the RV (probably 35 or so total) a couple had to be pretty much dragged out - we found their stash later where they had been sitting. We were dam lucky we took out the $0 deductible extra insurance. They gave us our deposit back in cash and we left real fast after that. :D
