Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 194: What to do now that winter has really started?

Thank god I don’t own a rear wheel drive car as my daily driver in the winter anymore.

With my commute, doesn't really make a difference. Haven't owned a FWD vehicle since 2001. ;)

There are times I miss rear-wheel drive, going down the freeway ain't one of them. If there's gridlock, it doesn't make any difference. Obviously.

Truth. I don't really care about FWD/RWD either way. It's about the driver and how they handle the vehicle, at least for my purposes in driving. Frankly, I have bought my last two vehicles because they fit my style/personality. I can adapt to their handling. :)

Ewe: Would you prefer PayPal, or surprise beer mail as repayment for the cider you sent? If you want me to send some MN beer to you, let me know what styles you prefer.
Whichever is easier. MN Beer might be interesting. I prefer dark beers - porters/stouts. Just no milk stouts please.
The husband is SOOOO jealous that you went to Craftsteak; he saw the FB post.

I am a bit surprised that your Jeeps were RWD (? - always figured Jeeps were FWD, if they weren't 4WD). I've always said that if I ever bought a sports car, I would make sure I had the money for storage, because I'd never operate it in winter conditions.

Good Morning, MEUS! :)
Good Morning, F2B&G! :)

Good Morning to the rest of tLodge! :)

open up the tie bar

Didn't know tLodge even had one of those. Since it's officially one half tie and one half win, I'll celebrate the win portion of that. We've done enough of the other one.

Most Jeeps are RWD/4WD, as is the Trailblazer I currently have.

Someone is now holding a 10yr multiple entry visa to the PRC :)

Wonder how often he will use it.......

It was 4WD on the fly, but RWD overall.

All wheel drive. Love it. Anti-lock brakes- hate them!

Good Morning Lodge!

In the hurry up and wait part of the flood. Yippee!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 194: What to do now that winter has really started?

They have almost killed me. WHen I hit the brake I want brake. Not let's ease into this.

Yeah, but ABS means you don’t lock up your wheels. Your brakes are far more effective at stopping your car than tire friction.

When you start sliding and your wheels lock up, you aren’t bleeding off energy as fast.

It fixes the natural and incorrect human response to jam on the brakes.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 194: What to do now that winter has really started?

There have been a couple times ABS has messed with me. Both times when I hit the brakes I was on ice, but only for about a foot. But once the ABS engaged, that's all my vehicle wanted to do. Ended up in the middle of a four way stop. Of course, my getting off the brake pedal and reapplying pressure when I was clear of the ice would have prevented the issue so I still don't completely blame ABS.
