Good morning Lodge.

Be safe right coasters.

Snowmageddon has begun in southern Connecticut. Predictions of 8-12" with some 20" accumulations possible. It's been snowing here for just about 2 hrs and we already have about 3" on the ground. They're calling for snowfall rates of up to 3"/hour combined with 35-40 mph winds... should make for a great day.

Work was cancelled... that almost never happens but the world has gone soft so it's no surprise. What I find funny is that there's a bunch of people who come in between 4-7am and from what I hear most of them were there (I normally go in at 6 but decided to wait and see this morning... waiting paid off!). They were sent home at 7am which was probably the right thing to do but some/most of these people wanted to be there and get paid.

Whatever... mother nature has given me a day off so I'll just sit back, drink some coffee and hot chocolate, and attempt to clear the driveway a few times during the day.

Good morning Lodge. Woke up to see predicted snow totals have increased from 8-12" to 12-18". Waiting to hear more about to forecast, as they're predicting more, and my parents fly home from Florida on Saturday. I hope they'll be able to get home. And I hope I'll be able to drive them up les-land and get back to my place. Ugh. I hate winter.

Morning.

Very windy today. Might get a sprinkle of rain. Weekend forecast looks great though. A little luck and we could hit 80 on Sunday!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #189: The Winter of our Discontent.

Wish we'd get that snow. We have ****ty warm, snowless weather on the way, and I'm ****ed.

Have to go to Orlando for a trade show in a few weeks. Wasn't planning on this, but my supervisor can't make the trip, and he delegated to me. While the trade show itself will actually be a good experience, and I'll get to meet face to face with several customers, I am absolutely not looking forward to traveling to the Disney hellhole of Orlando. Ugh. Why couldn't this be one of the Vegas, or New Orleans trade shows?

How could you not want to ride the teacups?!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #189: The Winter of our Discontent.

I am convinced that one of the rings of hell is simply a recreation of a Disney theme park.

I was 8 years old the last time I was in a Disney-specific parks, so I'm not sure what's what with those places. I did end up in Epcot with my mom when I was 15. It was a weekday, so the place wasn't very busy, and the whole thing turned out to be fairly enjoyable.

Is it a Canadian thing to email someone you don't know to ask for something for free to be sent to you and specifically not include the address to where you want said free gift sent?

Is there also a Nigerian prince involved?

It looks like we are only going to get a dusting in 202-land thanks to all the hot air coming out of 1600 PA Av., NW. ;)
Is that why you had a heat wave last week?

More snow coming in Saturday. Yippee. Tomorrow is supposed to be a lull.

Good Morning Lodge!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #189: The Winter of our Discontent.

It kinda looks like Saturday's snow isn't going to be that bad. It's the one Sunday night into Monday that looks worse. I hope.

Well, it was just another day until the front suspension in my truck broke while plowing the driveway. Cleared 6-8" with some drifting of 3-4 feet at around noon and was just finishing up when the crossmember that holds the front torsion bars gave up the ghost. Of course as luck would have it it's not a replaceable part as far as I can tell.

This mess is supposed to start tapering off by 4:00 and be gone by 8:00. I guess I'll be doing my driveway the old fashioned way: snowbolwer and shovel.

The good news is that you should be after the school break time, and it shouldn't be terribly hot down there at that time. Let me know if you change your mind, we can go hang out and check out the Frozen ride at Disney. Let it go, let it gooooo /ducks

If there is any free time, I'm going to breweries, not Disney. Though, it looks like there aren't many bright spots for breweries in Orlando. Wish I had time to get to Tampa to visit Cigar City, but that's not going to happen.

If you're going to be at the Orlando Convention Center, you'll be closer to Universal. They have cooler stuff at City Walk there.
