Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

So apparently the off season malaise has set in. No posts since 9am?? Come on people!!

Heading uptown shortly to meet my cousin for dinner. He works for the NFL. I'm meeting him at his office. Maybe I'll go a little early and go yell at Roger Goodell. /Patriots Fan

I hope the rain holds off. Trying to decide what to wear.

I just spent the better part of the afternoon trying to find peat pot starters for my tomato seed. /gardening fan.

Good Morning Lodge.
The only thing I got out of ewe's recitation was "Organ bank workup?? Who the **** would want organs from THAT donor?" Heroin addict with Hep C, no thanks.
Non-sarcastic comment: People with Hepatitis C. Particularly now that there are medications on the market that decrease viral load and some say cure Hep. C. Heroin, like most things, gets filtered out (these patients are usually sedated/vented for about a week while things are worked up, so a lot of that is cleared. Also, if you're in such a place that you need a transplant, many patients aren't going to be picky (especially those who need critical organs/organs in critical shortage -- i.e. lungs, heart). My first code (that survived) in the ED was a hep c+ pt with hx of heroin. They were able to utilize her kidneys for other hep C patients.

Vera continues to kill it with drain issues. I can never get the darn snake around the bends. Her? No problem. Now, I can cut and couple and work some magic with the pipes themselves. But if there's a clog? I'm useless.

Had a bigwig in today, so of course a meeting. That whole "rate of error" issue? Not going away. He thinks: 1 error is 1 error. Period. Follow the proper steps, no mistakes. Ever. Period. So if you do 1000 tasks, or 100, doesn't matter. Hello, decreased productivity. 3 people rekt/pwned (depending on your preference) him on the math, but nope. He wasn't budging. That's WONDERFUL for me, considering I have no choice but to keep up my productivity rates. I almost never get help on the rare times I need it. My productivity falls? Deadlines are not met. This should be fun. Thankfully, my bosses have my back, even DHead Boss.

I hate that philosophy. We recently (while I was on vacation) had a patient who developed a pressure ulcer. We haven't had one develop in our department in months. Now we have to have turning buddies to help us turn our patients every 2 hours and they're supposed to be assigned. Rather than look into why this one patient developed an ulcer (extenuating circumstances), it's much easier to just punish everyone.

Appears my new business cards are coming from Merrill in St. Cloud. What are the odds of a spelling error? ;)

Business model in medicine DOES NOT WORK!!! but they keep trying.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Mornin' y'all.

I've collected pucks since around age 7 or so..It was my very first WCHA Final Five with my dad and I have every puck from every Final Five since then, with the exception of one year..Dad said "Let's wait until tomorrow to get the puck..." Of course they were all out when we went to go get one the next day. I've asked around here more than a couple times, no dice, nothing ever on ebay...I couldn't sleep last night, and so after quite awhile i got up and grabbed my phone, and did a little browsing and reading for a few minutes..For some reason I found myself on Ebay looking for that Final Five puck. For the first time it was there! I now have a Final Five puck from every tournament since 1999.
