Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Good evening Lodge.

MOA was an absolute zoo. It's actually quite embarrassing to see such a spectacle.

Not sure what the eff was going on but traffic was nasty everywhere in cityslickerville.

Gopher bb was ok. I'm not a bb fan but the barn is a neat venue for an antique. Goofers played South Dakota. Double ot and a loss. Yuck! The seats behind the goofer bench were ok. Different perspective but the view had a few obstructions.

Looking forward to the queens game. On field passes prior to game and then we have a suite to ourselves (Loge for those of you keeping score from home).

1. Apparently you haven't visited the MOA before. :D
2. While it's calmed down, construction still is having an effect on things.

My lad is working at Target while he's deciding what he wants to be when he grows up and had to work Thanksgiving night.
Asked him the next day how it was. "W T F is wrong with people?" was his reply.

When is MOA not a zoo? I mean, I was there in November a week before Thanksgiving in conjunction with Tech/MN games and a blitz tour of MSP, and uh...jeeze.

Yeah, working retail make you lose all hope in humanity.

Approaching the mall form the north is worse than approaching from the south. And even then, you have to know how to approach it. You're better off parking over at the train station just to the east of the mall and then either riding to the mall on the train or walking the couple blocks when the weather's nice.

I used to shop at MOA. Had it down to a 30 minute visit, at best. That meant parking at the spot closest to the store I was shopping at, bee-lining it to said store, and walking out. Still, 30 minutes? Unacceptable.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

If it's down to "science"...should you really be shopping there? ;)

I don't, unless it's a last resort effort. In those few times, I learned that you have to use Old Shakopee Drive, coming at it from a back way rather than the main highway exits. It also gives you the option of using the train station for parking rather than trying to negotiate the mall's parking ramps.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

MOA is always a zoo but during the holidays it is cranked way way up. We witnessed a young couple drop about what I estimated to be around $5,000 at the Ameican Girl store. Their three young daughters brought their dolls with so that that they (the dolls) could get their hair and nails done.

Another thing that is new to me and now drives me nuts? We are staying at the Hilton in MPLS. The hotel is host to a national cheer competition. Tons of girls of all ages running around. most of these girls are really young and wearing tons of make up and they along with their parents are all psycho. To each their own but this seems quite excessive. Cheer. Really?

Cheer has become some sort of hybrid gymnastics sport.

All main arteries from MPLS to MOA to Williams arena and back to hotel were congested and slow. And it was sunny and the roads were dry. Heaven forbid if the weather turned shiatty.

Yeah, the drive in for men's hockey was pretty bad for a Saturday. Looked more like a Friday traffic.

The Mrs and I will take a weekday soon and go to the mall. It's not so nuts then. We usually go a couple times a year and avoid the really busy times, it's not that bad then. And we know where to park.

Cheer parents - moms in particular - are insane. Nuts. Wacko.

Yeah, working retail make you lose all hope in humanity.
And it's something everyone should have to do just so you understand.

Especially this time of the year. It's like the Running of the Bulls, without the degree of safety.

My aunt and uncle tell me Irish dancing parents are worse. That they even put the beauty pageant ones to shame with the crazy.

Sad football table? *FBT doesn't work for me tonight. That group of men represented The University of Iowa and the state of Iowa so freaking well. Proud of them.
