Why can I never leave for vacation???

Two answers spring to mind:

A) You are ALWAYS going on some vacation :p

B) You are the indispensable woman. The company cannot survive if you are gone for even one day! ;)

Had an interesting end to my day at work. I see a cop talking to one of the truck drivers outside. Odd, sure. Whatever. Probably some random check of some kind.

A few minutes later I see another cop, and his squad car is kind of blocking the cab of the truck. Um, uh-oh...bad paperwork/license or something, maybe? Not my business yet, so I continue working.

Then I see an ambulance outside. Ah, sh*. What is going on? I head outside, ask one of the officers if everything was alright, and he said everything was ok. Ok, fine by me. Call my boss to tell him what's up.

Turns out, the driver was having some chest pains and numbness in his left arm. Ugh. Took him away in the ambulance, I think mainly for precautionary measures (no lights or sirens). I actually get done fairly early, about to leave, and boss calls. Since the driver had to leave his truck there, I had to wait until a replacement driver showed up (liability). UGH. 45 minutes later, driver shows up.

Looking at a Mac Airbook this time instead of my Dell laptop. The hard drive is failing on this one, and the LCD acts up when I boot up. This is the 2nd Dell that I've had problems with. Any thoughts on the Airbook, if any of you have had one?

I tried to use a Mac once. Once. Hated the interface. I will stick with my Asus. On my second one...in about 6-7 years. They are beasts.

Officially on vacation and already it's not looking good. My tickets for the Emmys were supposed to be overnight end yesterday. Because I'm not home during the day, and I can't trust that they would be in my lobby when I got home I asked that they overnight to my hotel so they would be there when I check in on Saturday. I asked that they email me the tracking number. I didn't receive it yesterday or today so I emailed them asking for it. Girl emailed me back saying she was going to hand deliver it and should be there by 2:30 PST. I just got home and called the hotel to confirm and, of course, they're not there. JFC.

Then I checked my voicemail and my hairdresser called at noon because she said she forgot about an appointment she had tomorrow and could I change my 1pm appointment to 10 or 10:30 or Saturday. Um, no. My flight is 7:30am on Saturday. I have a mani/pedi appointment at 10:30. I can probably swap it, but what a pain. I'm already stressed.

You pay more but the battery life is outstanding and Macs don't get as bogged down and slow as PC's. I got a Macbook Pro a couple years ago and I love it. I plan on having it for a few more years before considering replacing it.

My brother has one and seems to like it.

I'd rather go computer-less than use one of those godforsaken things. The few times I've used a Mac it has been a terrible experience.

Dell USED to be good. My first computer was a Dell. Desktop, and lasted about a decade.

I did. About 2 years ago. F them.

A couple years ago our desktop died. Mrs g bought a top of the line lap top. I bought a MacBook Pro and an iPad. The apple stuff is still going strong without one issue. The lap top is experiencing issues and has slowed down and is nearing the end of its life.

As I said earlier, I'll stick with my Asus brand. My first laptop took a literal beating, and still lasted 5-6 years, only problem towards the end was the streaming capability. It probably could have lasted another year or two, if I only needed it for general surfing.

That's the issue with windows/laptops. They are only intended for three or four years of hard use. Apple? They keep going and going...........

And mine lasted for 5-6 years with more than heavy use. 3-4 years of marathon streaming of Netflix (talking 8-10 hours at a time on weekends), road trips, maybe some mashing of the keyboard during poker or hockey games. I beat the sh* out of it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I've had good luck with Dell, but my current one is also on its last legs ever since Microsoft stopped supporting XP. I'll most likely stick with PC, since I haven't used an Apple since high school, but have not ruled them out yet.
