Greetings from the nail salon. I haven't had a mani/pedi since my Emmys trip last year. Enjoying sitting in the massage chair while getting my feet taken care of.

It was supposed to rain today yet the sun is out. Going to a big cookout tomorrow. It will probably rain then. Going to try and bake later today. Almost all caught up on my dvr'd shows as well. Need to unpack as well. Sometimes it's good to have no plans.

Good Morning Lodge. Lovely morning here.

Went to my first real Lacrosse game last night. Jr's old school, Edina, hosted his new school, Benilde - St. Margret's. Each team has at least one senior going to play DI next year. Jr knows at least 1/3 of the kids on the Edina varsity roster from playing hockey or soccer with them and a few on the BSM varsity (he knows a lot more on the JV). The kid from Edina who is going to play for Cornell next year is a big, rough defender who took many penalties. Both teams are ranked in State and BSM beat Edina 13-10. Got to chat with a number Edina parents I haven't seen for a while. Fun time. Oh yeah, hung a fair amount of the time with the kid who is "dating" the cheerleader Jr has also been seeing - kinda weird.

Off to start errands at Sam's Club and Menards before doing work on house and yard.

It seems like there are fewer motorcycles in DC for Rolling Thunder each year.

It was primarily a Vietnam veterans ride, right? Those guys are all going to be in there 60's to 70's now. It would make sense. Perhaps they need an infusion of younger vets to really get things rolling.

That is my thought too.

Had lunch with my living grandparents (dad) today. They are up from Florida for the summer, as is customary since they retired (after living and working Florida for 25 years, they got sick of the summer heat). The usual banter about my great uncle's side of the family (they're a riot ;)), what's up with Detroit and Michigan, and other small talk. If I also make it to 80 without significant senility, I'll consider my life a success.

Attempted to visit the grave of my late grandparents (mom) this afternoon. Thought I knew where I could find them, and ashamed to admit that it's been years, and I could not. :( Even called my mom, who had been there a couple months before. I know I was in the right section, based on my photographic memory of the burial and mom's advice. Just too many headstones grown-in and covered with freshly-cut grass, and it was way too awkward to brush off all of them. I will try again later this summer.

So Jr is off to pick up the cheerleader and go to the movies. They plan to see "The Neighbors" which is rated R. They're both 16. Let's see how this works....

I know I shouldn't be too upset about this but a friend of mine is having a cookout tomorrow and I wasn't invited. There's a group of us, I call us "My Greek Friends", I've known them for a long time, this girl since junior high. I don't know if she thinks I know about it and don't go or not but all the others are going and went last year (saw pics on Facebook). I have another cookout to go to tomorrow so I couldn't go but she doesn't know that.

Mini golf, which was great, then lunch with the parents, and then a grillout/bonfire. Perfect weather, too. And top dropped. Wonderful day.

Beautiful day in the works here. Looking forward to just chilling, after the busy day yesterday and the busy day coming tomorrow.

Wonderful weather... does this ever happen on Memorial Day?

On the third day of the deck staining. Went with a darker color and it looks much better. Worst part is that I am now getting the gaps between the boards and this is gonna take a while - BIG deck.

Is it too early to start on the cocktails?
