Greetings from Conover, NC.
Yep, I had to look it up, too.

I spent a considerable amount of time in NC as the headquarters for one of the places I worked was located in Salisbury. Neat area.

True story. My assistant was located there. Whenever I was in town she would always invite me over to her house for dinner to meet the "the family". She was probably in her sixties and vey nice but I always thought it was odd she wanted me over for dinner to meet "the family " and I always declined the offer. One day I called her and I was notified that she was out of the office due to her nephew passing away. Her last name was Earnhardt and her nephew was Dale. I never put two and two together until that day. Anyways........it turns out that she wanted me over for dinner so I could meet "the family".......Dale. I have never been a fan of NASCAR but it would have been neat to meet him. I did end up going over for dinner after that and I got to meet and I got to know Dale Jr a bit.

Sorry about your lawn, but the old saying is "are we raising kids or grass?"

I don't know if all hotels are booked yet, but it's close. I expect he may try to go up with some of his buddies from the team, there is no formal team trip scheduled - maybe the second year for the team's existence they'll try that. I may encourage him to try to get a group together and maybe look for a resort cabin nearby.

ETA: They expect 4,000 shooters and 10,000 spectators (parents and siblings). Good thing you'll be gone that weekend!

Thanks, I'm having my right ankle replaced - should be an interesting couple of months of recovery as I won't be able to drive or walk for quite a while.

10,000 visitors in a town with a population of 12,000 or so. Good thing I will be out of town is right. I can do some checking on places if you want. Just let me know.

Good luck on the ankle. I'm guessing you won't be doing any triple axes anytime soon. I'm having a procedure done on 5/2.

Stuck in Duluth. Car went sideways when I tried to move over for a big singlebody truck that was right on my bumper. That truck then proceeded to take the front end of my car off and kept on truckin'.

That ****ing blows. Sorry man.

Did you get a plate or anything?

Nope. He was close enough behind me that I couldn't see his plate, and after the contact happened I was pointed the wrong way. Plus, it was a rather generic white truck. I'm boned. At least 20 witnesses, no one stopped.

Yep, I'm boned.

Yikes glad you didn't need to be the 3rd potential rehab candidate

Greetings Lodge Peeps. Hanging in my room getting ready to watch the Bruins game. Some group here at the hotel had a guy set up with kettle corn so I snagged a bag and I've been eating it for an hour. I need to stop.

When I got back here from our offive event I tried to log on to do some work. I had done it yesterday and arranged for 2 days of the wireless. For the life of my I couldn't get online. It said I was connected to the Marriott Guest wireless but had no internet. Hmmmm. Called down, I had two of the engineers here trying to figure it out. They couldn't. I called our Help Desk. They said it was probably the hotel. I had to leave to go to our other office to set up for our event there tomorrow. One of the engineers called the service provider and had them call me. Which they did. Except that I was in my car at that time. Got back here afterwards and all of a sudden it works. Working remotely Matt Cookes sometimes. (see what I did there???) :)

Got a hold of Dad. He saw the birthday message and his account person stopped by and gave him a gift bag, which included the Big Papi bobblehead doll. I told him I wanted that, he can't give to my niece. Because I shelled out the $100 to get the birthday message up there. And really, what the heck is my Dad going to do with the Big Papi bobblehead??

Thanks! Given that I wake up from being put under..........my recovery will be a cake walk (pun intended) compared to goldy.

So I picked the Elantra. Turns out I can add a spare for $269 anytime I want. That's cost of labor hardware and the tire I guess.

Don't spill the beans!

Don't worry Brent, I think you'll like it.

Also, I think we settled on a first dance song tonight.

Is it weird to say we have our first dance song picked already? It was actually chosen about the time of engagement. It just....was right. We were joking around with songs, and one just kinda hit. (no, it's not a Rickroll or anything).
