Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

And how would I know this?
You'll know if the blu-ray player has wi-fi if you have the owner's manual and it says. Otherwise, the only other way to know is going through the network setup process to see if it asks you to setup the Wi-Fi connection. If there is no wi-fi setup section within the menu of processes, then it's most likely not a wi-fi enabled device.

Even though the router/modem is a completely different room? I cannot be the only person in the world whose router/modem is in a different room, can I be?
Well, yes, if you want to use the blu-ray player as the device that provides Netflix. It's not a great solution, but it's the solution. There may be other options available, but I'm not familiar with them.

Um, what?
Blu-ray players can sometimes require software updates just like a computer because, more or less, that's essentially what they are - specifically purposed computers. That's why you can run Netflix and likely other apps through the device. So the player's operating system gets updated from time to time as well as Netflix receiving updates.

I have no clue about how to help you, Scarlet. Not really tech-savvy. I just plug and play and tell me what the machine tells me to do for setup. And I push a lot of buttons to see what their function is. Truth.

I'm supposed to get to work at 8am tomorrow for recert on the power equipment, but prob won't make it (the start time is up to me). Given it's the Fri before Labor Day weekend, I might push it and start at 8:30 and start a little later on my actual job (have been starting THAT at 9ish). The recert is painfully boring, watching stupid animated videos and answering obvious questions.

Power went out today, too. I guess 11K were affected. Don't know why. Hurt us, obviously. Can't function without power. Add to that, all my lunch places were out of power too, so couldn't get lunch until power came back on. Made for an interesting day after it came back on after about an hour.

S'upp y'all

OK, need your feedback on something. Don't worry - it's frivilous and fun.:)

Every year I run a Pick The Winnahs Emmy Challenge at work. It's a fun and stupid contest because I go to the Emmys on my vacation. Everyone at work looks forward to it. I do a presentation when I get back, the "winnah" gets an autographed Emmys program. No money, no betting, just fun. Each category is weighted with points and the person that picks the most correct winner....wins. Now, some of the categories I include in my ballot are awarded at the Creative Arts Emmys the week prior. Individuals who actually care and pay attention, well, they know who/what those category winners are. I have absolutely no problem allowing that. My game, my rules.

I just finished correcting everyone's ballots this morning. The guy who won has given his notice and Friday the 5th is his last day with the company. The two women who came in tied for second - woman A and woman B I'll call them - one (woman A) knew of the few that won the week before and the other (woman B) did not. She literally guessed correctly. I want to award the prize to woman B because:

a) Guy who won doesn't work for the company any more (or won't by the time I present it on the 15th)and I call the category Best Performance by an Employee in the Pick The Winnahs Emmy Challenge
b) Woman A won last year (and I never did my presentation in 2013 and will be doing it the same day so she will be winning something already)

Thoughts???

Should give it too a boss you'd like to work for one day

Good Morning, Lodge!

A little bummed that I didn't get into a craft fair that I did last year. Oh well, it is aimed for a hipster scene. Dam hipsters.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Using my new work computer. It seems pretty sweet, except it has already restarted 3 times this morning.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Morning Lodge.

Planning on fair today but weather looks yucky.

So gmann has a tent bigger than Brent's apartment?

Scarlet, don't you know a nerd you can smile sweetly at and have him come over to help?

Been on the phone with IT for several minutes for the first issue, of many. They are completely stumped. Sorry IT, you need to figure this out, if I can't open spreadsheets, I pretty much can't do my job. Also, this dam thing says I have overloaded the USB ports...I have a mouse and a keyboard plugged in, that's it. Yeah overloaded...

Have they tried loading MS Office onto your computer yet?

It came with Office, and you could open Excel just fine, it just wouldn't open any of my spreadsheets. I just got an error. It took IT 45 minutes to figure out that there was some setting that was wrong. I don't know why I'm having all of these issues. For some reason it automatically opens 3 programs that I rarely, if ever, use every time the computer restarts, so I have a bunch of crap to close before I do anything. Screen resolution was really messed up for a while, all of the words were in like size 6 font. I got it somewhat fixed now, but it still isn't completely right.

That's not your computer's fault, that's an OS imaging issue, therefore the tech team's fault. Someone strayed from the standard imaging package (operating system, default settings, and software packages) your company uses/issues.

Timestamp difference = 2hrs, 5mins. That might be a new record.

Good morning Lodge.

It poured most of the night and into the morning and finally let up about an hour ago. I'm really looking forward to packing up a wet tent.........
