Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

My issue with the jet skis is not that they have a motor, it is that too many operators are d-bags. They will sit in a bay going round and round trying to jump their own wake, etc. for seemingly hours on end. Most motor boats go past and are gone. May come back in a while but the PWCs often hang in one location.

So for those who are married. Is a 3 bank acct system the best plan (ours, hers, mine) for financial sanity?

I feel like this should be worked out before the big day.

That is where we're at right now, though, we have decided that we want to just have joint account(s) in the future. It is just going to take a little bit to decide on a bank or CU and get everything transferred.

That's what jet skis are made for....just riding them in a straight line like a boat would be boring as hell.

I know people who would feel slighted by not making all accounts shared, like one foot's out the door before the marriage even began. Others have decided that they'd have a main account be a joint account, and then each keep separate small accounts for play. Others have had the three-account setup with the understanding of full disclosure or ability to see the accounts. It's one of those things that makes me very happy I don't have that headache looming over me.

I know her husband

We talked about this last yr via txt. I was golfing in a 2 day event with him and he was telling us over beers about his wife working at "your place" and doing World Cup promotion stuff. I brought up the balls you were sending all over and that's when we figured you two had some connection.

When I first met the husband we were at a conference in fla and had just met. He was telling stories of spending summers up there with grandparents and Mookie started laughing and said "I shoulda known you were a f'g yooper" :)
Friends ever since.

I am now recalling that conversation. I went in to her office this morning to tell her that. Too funny. He's a BC guy, so is she.

I have to make a presentation today to a dozen or so 6th, 7th and 8th graders about our FIFA and Team USA sponsorships. The head of the group hosting these kids is one of the top guys in the company so I'm a little nervous. But two of his underlings who I've been working with on this event have already emailed the head of our department to say I've been a huge help in planning the event. Of course all the goodie bags I've given them has also helped. Wish me luck.

Regarding checking accounts.......Mrs. g has her account and I have my account. We are on each others but I don't mess with hers and vice versa. It seems to work for us.

Mr and I have separate checking and savings accounts. We do have a joint savings account that we add to every week. Best decision ever.

We have one account.
In the pre-nup Mrs. GE got the checkbook & I got the remote. ;) This works great for me, I hate checks - the anti-Brent - and probably haven't written one in ~5 years.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

If I had gone and gotten married, we would have had separate accounts, just to simplify things since she had financial dealings/settlements (alimony/child support) with her ex.

Good Morning Lodge.

Sorry, I think JF already has a different lady picked out to go with him.
If Les wants to foot the bill we can talk. :p
sigh. I can't fund my self.

Heading up to the lake later today for the weekend.

Better not be any radios playing down by the water.

We're renting jet skis tomorrow though (during the day), so there's that... :p

Hypocrisy?

Nah... the sound of motors is synonymous (to me) with being on lakes (outside of the BWCA or Quetico) and I have no problem with (water) motor sports - as long as the arsehats keep their distance when we're fishing.
Thankfully the lake we are on is narrow enough that most of it is no wake. Nothing more irritating than the angry buzz of the motorized gnats. Might feel different on a loarge lake but on ours it would be like bees in a bottle

Maybe this was what people of our generation did. We have the same rules and Mr has the same feeling about checks and bills. We have always had a checking acct, a savings account and a nest egg acct that initially was our first joint savings acct for the wedding and then the one we just add to and don't take out of except for big things. My bro has the 3 acct thing. We never even thought of doing that. We were married so we put all the money in one place. Was a mindless choice but thankfully the remote/bank split worked well. :p

good luck!! :D

Do you feel dirty?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I think my parents have just one account, and my mom basically runs the finances (even though my dad was in collections/finance for years at a major retail store and later the state government). In fact, on both sides of my family, the woman always took care of the bank stuff. My late SIL included.

My parents are the same way. My father spends most of the money, my mother yells at him for it.

I hate electric medical records. I hate the buffoons who are managing our motheaten e fifing server that will only load a window every 30-45 seconds. Are you bleeding kidding me?~!!!>>!>!K!!! I have 12 more charts to do. I have been on the same chart for 15 minutes and have been booted out so many times I have lost count. Blinks on and off, windows fill in, disappear. I have gotten off, gotten back on, rebooted the whole laptop and the router. I haaaaaaaate that I can't just do my job and some e ffing insurance co bureaucrat has made it so instead of doing my job in a half an hour it takes me 4 hours and massive amounts of self control (which I currently have lost!!1!1!!!) til past midnight. I just want to finish and go to bed. God I hate the e ffing ba5t ards who invented this stupid thing
