Morning Lodge.

Morning. The wedding checklist is finally getting shorter. Invites have been ordered!

I think I'm down to cake, photographer, my suit and my ring.

This planning part is definitely the worst.

I didn't find it that tough "yes dear, that sounds good to me. Let's get the chocolate cake. Yes dear, I agree. What time do I need to be at the church? OK." :p

I wish it was that way. But most of the effort has fallen on me. It's fine, but I thought women had these planned from birth.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Stay off of 10 and you should be fine. Then again I am someone from Coon Rapids, and think of Oak Grove as not that far away.

Oak Grove is like, right next door to me!

Also, for job stuff. I have options within the company, both are very lucrative, one requires me to move to Indiana (non-starter), and the other is only theoretical at this point. So I'm in a waiting mode. I've already been offered the theoretical position, if it gets created, but we'll have to wait and see on that. Can't get into too many details, because if that happens, it will create quite a few waves within the company and my group, and I would be leading it. My problem is I don't want to/can't move, and there is **** for engine development type jobs in the Twin Cities. I have headhunters calling me from Waterloo and Peoria regularly, but really, Waterloo and Peoria? No Thanks.

When are the rest of you engaged ppl getting married anyways?

3rd weekend in July

edit: one of the few things that my fiance trusted me to setup with the wedding (mostly because she had an idea in her head how she wanted everything already) was the catering. I got it setup, I was on top of everything, and she couldn't take it. She had to call them and ask them a bunch of questions, the same questions I had already answered for her. She has since admitted that I had it under control. :p

So now I'm in charge of lining up transportation. Guest shuttle from the hotel to the reception, and the limo-bus for the wedding party.

I don't have a problem with her doing a bunch of the planning, she knows what she wants, and I want it to be exactly how she wants it to be. But I want to be able to lighten the load, and hopefully reduce the stress when possible.

Gonna wear a cutoff tux and cowboy boots with a neat hat?

And August in Georgia? Who would do ANYTHING in Georgia in August?

Nah, I wouldn't get the deposit back if I cutoff the tux, so it will be the standard version. Also, the whole wedding party will be wearing cowboy boots.

July 2015 is the plan for us. She is going to finish school. As for planning, we basically need to find a place for the reception and then the little things like invites and that's it. We're both doing the planning, for the most part.

It used to be that the man's job was to be a Yes Man to the fiancee. It looks like things are changing with the times. Sometimes change sucks.

Except I have to take 77 to 62 to 35W. Figured I'd cut across the back road I used to get to the Super Rink, and then north on 65. No matter the route I chose, it came out to be between 59-61 miles with a 70minute estimate. Frickin' nuts for only about four hours of a party where I won't be able to eat what they offer or even have a drink. Thanks but no thanks.

I, of course, exaggerated for effect. ;) We were both mature, established adults (stop laughing now:p) at the time so we both did planning. We kept it fairly simple, picked a hotel near the church for the reception, used the church guild to help with flowers and such, picked out a DJ and meals, gave the DJ some guidelines, put together some invites. Biggest deal was probably my wife trying to find a dress she liked that wasn't outrageous in cost. Bought wine for the meal in magnums during a wine sale at a local store and paid the corking fee to the hotel - saving a bunch over the cost of wine through their service.

I'm really glad we got married in October instead of in the summer though. I've been to several summer weddings and so many people were miserable dealing with heat/humidity in formal clothes.

Yep, same deal here. Anywhere in the south except maybe North Carolina or Texas, depending on the job, is a nonstarter.

It doesn't happen with my phone though.

This flight is chock full of little kids and babies and if the toddler sitting behind me doesn't stop hitting/kicking the back of my seat I'm going to snap.
You really need to start a website called kids flying badly, so that people can post pictures to shame kids and parents for misbehaving or bringing along their crying baby on the plane.

Just keep on saying Yes to her, and keep her mother and your mother from meddling too much.

And you are wearing your neat hat for the wedding?? ;)

Aren't you just the cutest! Here, have a participation ribbon!

/just baaaaaaarely also a Millennial
//I don't think anyone over 30 belongs in a generation with someone who's not even out of high school yet
I won't claim the Millennials. I was born in '82, which some use as the 1st year to define Millenials. I have far more in commonn with Gen X than Millennials (even if I was given participation trophies for rec league bouncy ball).

I also did a few days ago. I think that USCHO now makes us do it every 6 months.
The worst part was this time it didn't let me use my current password for my new password. :( Now I have to re login on all my other computers.

(crap, that last sentence makes me sound like a whiny millennial  )

It let me revert to the one which I used prior to the last one.
