Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

It was a little too cold to go bike riding without tights today -- even for just an hour. :)

If anyone invites me to a casino again, or I offer to go there, STOP ME. The gambling gods have conspired against me. I am rethinking our decision to stay in Atlantic City for the Frozen Four. Grrrrrr!!

Evening Lodge.

Jr started cross fit training today. He did it a couple years ago and he got real strong. He needs the discipline of a class but works hard when he has that.

JFC neither of my Comcast remotes work. I have to wait till Monday to go to a service center to swap them or schedule a technician, which God know when that could happen. So I cannot watch tv in my living room or bedroom. I'm watching tv ob the set that has a TiVo. I'm very close to calling Comcast to get rid of this crap box. They're going to have to discount service at the very least.

Good evening Lodge.

The little g's met quite a few Vikings players tonight. Lots of very nice guys. By far Greenway and Ragnar are class acts.

I'm starting to get back into shape on the 2nd; I may try Crossfit.

What a week/weekend. We went to Duluth hoping to get a crack at Duluth Marshall and East Grand Forks. Instead, DM outshot Appleton 50-10 and lost in a shootout; we beat Appleton 8-2 to advance to the finals after previously beating Edgewood 6-4. EGF was beat by Notre Dame Academy 2-0, so we ended up playing three Wisconsin teams. Thankfully, Notee Dame was very, very good; they're virtually the Saint Thomas Academy of Wisconsin, but not as elite simply because of the talent pool in Wisconsin.

We lost a game we very easily could've won today 3-2 in OT. It was a tough loss for our guys to swallow, but we were forced to leave it on the ice today for truly the first time all year. Man I wish we could play teams like that all year. Anyways, it's a loss to learn from and hopefully fuel the fire the rest of the way. I think we earned some respect this weekend, which is something Mankato and southern MN desperately need.

Oh, and I'm completely exhausted. Phew.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Who ever heard of not letting kids run their distance training on the roads? Lil has been running all his distance inside the JHS building. His legs are crap and there is no way you can get a good work out in doing that. He txt the coach last night and the guy said he can't trust some of the team to run outdoors. Are you e ffing kidding me? First they could only run where there were sidewalks and they had to be plowed (they never are). Not only that but our town doesn't have a lot of sidewalks even tho they are supposed to have them within 2 miles of the schools. Now because one kid ran in the middle of the school driveway, with everyone yelling at him, they can't run outside at all. I told lil he should skip practice and just run what he needs on his own but he is a Capt so can't do that. Basically his indoor season is shot. You can't run distance with no base. You can't run mileage on a cement floor. His knee has already started to swell on and off. I am not a happy camper. This is because some freshman's father went to the Superintendent during XC because he had reams of 'research' showing it wasn't safe for the kids to run on the roads. The kid quit before the season because he kept getting lost (he literally couldn't run straight down the road and find the school complex.) Joined the INdoor team and got lost when they were running on the sidewalk back and forth the mile in front of the school. Are you kidding me????!!!!

Phew. I feel better having a rant.

And in other news- Lil got early acceptance and is done the chose your college thing. Phew.

Good morning Lodge.

A balmy 3 degrees in cityslickerville. Back home it's -15 but feels like -40 after a record high 47 degrees yesterday.
