Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Question for the Lodge.

Purchasing a tv. Comes with 3D (I could care less about it but it's nearly a standard option these days). Is a 3D DVD player worth it?

Home 3D is on the way out... Never really caught on... Even 3D movies in theaters are not making the money they made in the past... It appears to be a trend that is starting to fizzle out... Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra cash... Just don't see a gain in shows/movies from them being in 3D... It does nothing for the experience...

My opinions of course... Your results may vary :p

I agree. The tv has 3d so it is what it is. Tvs over 50" almost all have 3d and are smart. I will be purchasing a blu ray and then I thought maybe I should look into a 3d blu ray. I'm leaning towards no way but I can be swayed.

OOOOHHHHHFFFF!!!! think I ate too many devil eggs.

Not exactly a fan of the new office chair I got. Sits a little higher than the old one and its just bad ergonomics all around for me at the desktop with it until I figure out a way to elevate the computer screen. Till then, just going to keep using the old one. Should be able to go find some sort of a little shelf deal that would work to elevate the computer screen stand.

I have it, used it, and won't likely buy another movie with the 3D "feature". If you buy the disc player online they're no more expensive than a normal Blu-ray player. Amazon has one for as little as $54, with more reputable brands still under $100.

Morning lodge! Off to Duluth to start our biggest five game stretch til playoffs; should win today and then hopefully have two great matchups Friday and Saturday, both if which should give us a chance to prove ourselves at a state level.

Truth be told, he seems like a nice young man. Very quiet (a little too shy so far) and soft spoken. He obviously isn't going to try and bs his way around us. They say first impressions go a long way and I was impressed by the one he made on me this morning.

Further updates will be forthcoming over the course of the next week. ;)
The being-nice-'cause-it's-Christmas phase is over! ;)

Truth be told, I actually like the kid! Seems well-grounded and has a plan for his future. One of my "concerns" was his job. He works for an oil pipeline installation company and is transient (works 3-6 months, off 1-3 months, changing locations, etc). Obviously, he met my daughter in Texas then was in West Virginia, and is likely going to Ohio next. He's been in North Dakota and Oklahoma too.

Any way, his goal is to only do this for 10 years (he's in his 4th). At that point he'll be vested in his substantial union pension plan and will look to find more stable employment. He chose work over college because he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He still hasn't really decided but leaves the door open to return to school if something strikes his fancy.

He's been very respectful of my wife and I, even if he did give me a UMD sweatshirt for Christmas (in exchange he got a bunch of QU apparel, and we're dragging him to a game on Sunday ;) ). Very soft-spoken and not prone to BS (confirmed by my daughter). Also has very firm religious beliefs (come to find out, they actually met at a church function down in Texas).

For now, as long as my daughter is happy, papa is happy. My initial concerns have been put to rest (at least for now), but I'll give him the rest of the week to screw up! :D
