Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

There is some similarity. As a shopping experience when they are busy, both are ridiculous. Isles too narrow, stocking done haphazardly, messy and unclean.

And the bolded/underlined goes for both the products and the customers.

Not as lucky as some of you guys, I only have Christmas Eve/Day off. I can't imagine it'll be too busy this week though.

My last day until 1/6 - leaving for Paris tomorrow and then onto London on 12/29. It's been a long few weeks, can't wait to see my son and also play the role of obnoxious American tourist. :)

My house is coated with ice, truck has 1/2 inch on it. Stand outside for awhile and you will hear a loud snap as another branch breaks off in the woods. Driveway is a skating rink, supposed to rain later. Not like 98 but this sucks
yuck. That sounds nasty!

Godspeed and safe travels!

I hit Target, and that's it. But she had to do her shopping, too.

I bought most of my gifts on Amazon. I don't think I'll ever go back to dealing with people at stores. And actually, I don't think I actually bought any gifts at Fleet Farm...just a gag gift for my cousin. Then I had to stop at the liquor store to get a homewrecker of Jameson for my cousin's husband, I drew his name in my family's name draw.

I use Amazon quite a bit. Be careful though as I assumed Amazon would always be the best deal. Wrong. I planned on purchasing a Lego set through Amazon. Target/Walmart had the set listed for $49.99. The cheapest I could find on Amazon was $75.99. I have other examples as well. It pays to do a little research.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Gross, crappy, rainy day here right now. But I'm not working, so that's a plus. I have to get my windshield replaced today. The crack has grown significantly since Friday. Can't have them come to me as it's raining and they can't do it outside. No biggie.

Met friends for breakfast this morning. These are my friends I was with Friday night - my Greek buddies. They do breakfast a lot but I can't because I, you know, have a job. But I was off today. So I woke up (instead of sleeping in), drove all the way to Woburn, where they all live, in the cold rain. Walked to the restaurant and I was the only one there. I texted one of them as I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. Finally, one of them shows up, then the one who arranged it, 20 minutes late. Emails had gone around in the morning that I missed - three others passed. Great. Thanks for the warning. Could've stayed in bed an extra hour.

So yesterday my brother and I drove up to my other brother's house to see the nieces and all go out to eat. And, I told them we should take a picture of the six of us, put it in a frame and give to our folks as a gift. We get up there, my sister-in-law couldn't find one of her siblings or one of my niece's million friends who are ALWAYS over there to take the picture. They had an old camera with a self timer so we tried that. When we loaded it onto the computer to email it to me, we all went "UGH!" So after dinner one of my niece's friends came over and we took a few more. Got one we liked, I emailed it to myself and when I got home I sent it to Walgreen's so I could pick it up this morning. Headed there just now and they're like "Oh, yeah, you won't get it till the 27th. We're out of photo paper." What????? So I just opened an account at CVS' photo department and sent it there and will pick it up later.

Oh, and the traffic light cycle at the main intersection where I live has been changed AGAIN and it's this cluster**** of traffic out there. There is a state police barracks right there. I cannot understand how they don't see what a nightmare it is. I do not know who oversees the traffic lights there. Is it the state police or the city police? This is not the time to try something new.

I'm a little irritated that Fleet Farm is being lumped in with Wal-Mart. Fleet Farm rules.

I have a buddy on the Lakeville Fire Department. The department does volunteer work for things like Salvation Army bell ringing outside stores a couple times each December. He says that when he does it outside a Fleet Farm that they rack up the donations like people can't donate fast enough. When they do the bell ringing outside of Target, a lot of people look at them with disgust and the donation bucket is usually pretty thin by the end of their few hours.

Morning.

Got home from Roanoke, VA late last night. Was quite a bumpy ride home due to all the rain storms. 2 babies on one of the flights, zero crying or screaming. Although it was only a 45 minute leg.

I'd rather pay more and not have to put up with bull**** of going to an actual store during Christmas shopping season. I've had to go to stores to shop in past years, and the people there, and the music and all of it combined makes me want to stab people.

Target and Wally World are both online, too. Prices are usually the same in both their stores and their sites.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Ordered presents for my brother and his family on Amazon and had them shipped to my parents' house (this way the presents get to Houston without me having to pack them in my luggage). Tracking information shows they arrived on Friday but my mom claims she hasn't seen anything. Brother will be with his in-laws on Christmas day, so I have until the 27th to find the shipment. Evenso, a bit worried as to where it could have gone.

Clearly your mom stole the presents, pawned them and gambled away the proceeds.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

I got an invitation to my 50th HS reunion. It seems like the 40th was only yesterday.

My 20th reunion would be this coming fall. I recevied an invite to the 5-year, but skipped it as I had just graduated from college not long ago and it just seemed to early to go see people I never really knew very well in the first place.

It must be the Ghost of Christmas Presents. ;)

I went to the 40th because I happened to be in NYC that weekend anyway. I really don't remember too many people from my HS class since I didn't go to my neighborhood school. Instead I went to a school that has an admissions test, and somehow I was admitted.

The only college reunion which I attended was my 5th. I was still there for grad school at the time,
