Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #163: Irish Eyes Smile

Well, good first day of actual work. I'll be acclimated to my new position quickly.

But I have a question: I applied with a temp agency about a month and a half ago, and today they called for an interview. Do I go ahead and interview with them, knowing I just started at Wal-Mart? Or do I just call them back and say "no thanks?"

Can't hurt to listen to what they have to say.

Here in the Club Room having dinner pre-game. Rode up the elevator with a guy wearing a BC national champions hat. Wanted to ask if he knew his team as playing and why he was here instead. And thought of the new BU thread title in DI and laughed.

That depends on the offer. Wal-Mart has a ton of turnover. While they don't like it, they expect a certain percentage of their employees to bolt shortly after being hired. It's the nature of retail.

Can't hurt to listen to what they have to say.
I'll give em a call Monday and schedule the interview. I'm actually thinking of working two jobs; my goal is to be free from most debt by the end of the calendar year, and then to be free from student loans by 2021. And yes, I realize if I work two jobs, it's going to require a lot of sacrifice.

Do it; update your resume to include Wal-Mart, and take fresh copies with you. Not a glamorous job to add to your employment history, but it's better than handing over a resume with months of unemployment, even in this state where such gaps have an easy excuse (the problem is that it's an easy excuse for a lot of people). Bear in mind, they might be averse to hiring you if they know or suspect that you plan to work both jobs, as they'll probably be worried that you'll get burned out pulling swing shifts (which is a legitimate concern for you to think about, if you're going down that path).

One plus of working nights is that your schedule during normal business hours is free for whatever interview chances may come your way.

HHT:D:D after an OT goal and a review that took longer than the time they were skating on the ice. So now the Maine fans win too, right?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #163: Irish Eyes Smile

HHT here, too.

I have the feeling we're being set up for an epic fall the next two days.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #163: Irish Eyes Smile

At the "* it, my season's over" HT. And I'm not happy sitting here, but the booze is nice.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #163: Irish Eyes Smile

So, I'm apparently the new owner of the "meh" hockey table because I apparently 1.) forgot that they were playing tonight and 2.) don't really care that they won.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #163: Irish Eyes Smile

Hopefully just a temporary seat at the *HT...

Jeebus Mark. Ranked #1 in the country for how many weeks and the ONE game I (or rather, BU) needs QU to win and this is what happens?????? ::head desk::

*deep breath*

Sorry. had to get that rant out. On the other hand.....

HHT for me. Got a little ugly out there at the end. Could be uglier tomorrow. I'm very nervous.

Not sure if I should say this here or not, but I figured the WCHA didn't want St. Cloud with the cup because they said they'd stay loyal publicly, and jumped ship shortly after. That would be my guess, anyways.

That was my guess.

I'm getting real sick of that Andrew Walsh guy. I bet we get to see him again tomorrow.

Denver 5
CC 3

Good game and surprisingly few penallties. Only seven in all, all minors. Denver got one goal from each of five forward. Olkinoura with 39 saves. Sam Brittain in goal for the Pioneers tomorrow.
