Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 145: are you giving up something for lent??

The Jewish Doc I worked with told the Catholic Doc that he needed to give guilt up for Lent one of the first yrs they worked together. Still funny 20 yrs later. :p

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! wednesday.
I gave up religion for lent one year when I was about 12. I never bothered picking it back up.
Isn't Lent a Catholic thing only?
Lent is one of the most fundamental parts of the Christian calendar. Now, by and large not too many non-Catholics observe the non-meat, giving something up tradition.

And I, for one, love the chant thread. And I know that some people may hold me responsible for some of it's wonderful horribleness, because let's face it, next to pooping, arguing with OP is one of my favorite activities. So, yeah, sorry about that. But I love that thread.

I try to do the non meat thing, but I usually forget around the Final Five. So far so good this year.

They had a fun day at work this morning, complete with a now former employee getting slammed up against our entrance doors by the police. I did get to see mel though, so that made up for not being there for it. Hopefully I get to see the video.

* Lent. I try and do something I never have done before (shuddup peanut gallery!), rather than give something up. This year, I plan to watch one minute of crappy tv each day. It's truly a sacrifice.

I believe that you could rephrase this to say that each year you give up one of the holes in your range of experience.

Were you so inclined.

Which I'll bet you're not.

One doesn't argue with OP. He pontificates and then he tells you what you were thinking when you posted. Sometimes it is quite surprising to find out what you must have been thinking
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 145: are you giving up something for lent??

There is something to be said for a cool, quiet New England morning after a few long, stressful days. Waited 25 minutes for the library to open this morning and just enjoyed my coffee and the lack of noise. No phone, no tv, no iPod...kind of nice. Just stood outside waiting. Now on to a marathon day of studying/review for tonight's test.

Good luck!
Thanks! I'm not nearly as nervous about this test as the last one. This one has defined units (heh) - neuro issues/anatomy/care and musculoskeletal issues/anatomy/care and some IV/med math (we have some of that on every test).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 145: are you giving up something for lent??

So a few months ago I had an interview where I received a FOAD letter within 8 hours. Yesterday I received a written offer letter within 8 hours of the interview. And a "what absurd monetary value can we offer to make you not go on your other interview". Makes me feel good. Too bad I'm one of those people that values quality of life more than money. Tough decision for me.

Good Morning Lodge.

:eek::confused::eek::confused:
:p I actually don't mind this kind of math. Nothing more than conversions between systems (metric to American and vice versa as well as a few to the antiquated system with drams and grains) and for calculating rates, which might require dimensional analysis to get the correct terms (i.e. 25 mg/kg/24 hr - what is the drip rate in ml/hr for an 165lb patient for a med that has 100mg per 1ml). I actually like it because it's like a puzzle, but apparently I'm in the minority as most of my cohorts dread med math. :o Now calculus and that stuff.... *vomit*

Better too many choices than none!

Aw, c'mon, no multivariable analysis for you? :p Good luck on the test!

If anyone is interested, here are some pretty good pics from WW2, the quality of the pics is excellent, mostly manufacturing pics.

It looks like he pulled those from http://www.shorpy.com/image/tid/179. Very interesting website, and a good selection that the Livejournal user pulled too.

Morning, Lodge. Packing for a vacation with the gf, though it also has some business aspects (with one of the volunteer groups I'm in.)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 145: are you giving up something for lent??

Watching Scooby Doo right now. It's the most intelligent thing on TV right now, and if I watch more than a second of Hillbilly Handfishing.....yep, you guessed it......it's shovel time.

Thank God The Wonder Years comes on in 20 minutes.

You have an education from a top-flight university and a solid career and you make peanuts. Snooki is a multimillionaire. Think about that for a minute.
