Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

I'm not really a hick or a redneck. I don't have junked cars in my yard, chew Skoal, live in trailer, etc. There is a difference between being a country boy/farm boy and being an all-out redneck hick. I can show you hicks and you would definitely be able to tell the difference between them and me.

I know. You've met my bro. He's along your lines. And we all know the difference between a true hick, and people like you/my bro.

I apologize. Yeah, I wanted to see an LOA concert, until I talked to a buddy who used to work at 1st Ave (the site for the movie Purple Rain, for those who are not locals), and he advised against it, given the nature of the crowds there. Either way, I know about the millions of subcultures. If it's not random noise (like Skrillex), and preferably has an edge (not the OO! OO! type), I'd probably like it.

Having now been to 2 fests (Electric Zoo in NYC (2 day outdoor festival) and 2 Tiesto shows at Roseland Ballroom)... yes, there still is some hard drug (ecstasy mainly) usage, but it isn't as prevalent as it used to be when edm was more underground music than it is now. As it SLOWLY moves to being more mainstream, more and more people who aren't into the drug scene are going to shows just for a good time. For the most part, the artists are also trying to push more of the 'peace/love' attitude (not hippy stuff, just not the drugs/violence that used to be around)

It's not that. I've seen just about every drug taken (heroin and crack to be the exceptions). It's the S&M stuff. There are some serious hardcore fans of that that show up to the LOA shows, I've heard. Not for me.

Ah, ya never really heard/read about that stuff. That's most likely unique to them or a very select few groups though.

The S&M stuff is one thing. It's going to a rave and seeing a bunch of 14 year old girls running around hugging/fondling strangers while hopped up on who knows what and wearing barely a square foot of fabric that just makes me say "uhh...no."

I actually think rave culture is kinda cool. It just has gotten too out of control and picks up the absolute last people on earth who need to be in that culture.

Thankfully I missed that part of it. I have seen the stuff you see on DISC/NatGeo/etc. the people that are wayyyyyy out there. Not the kids. Yet. Thankfully. I loved going to 1st Ave years back. No judging like in clubs/etc. You just danced to the music. You probably sucked at it, but who cares? It wasn't like a club scene. It was different. Sometimes carnal, yes. Sometimes just goodtimes, yes. Either way, it was fun.

I'd say dress in all black with a mesh veil and say that you're mourning your little boy's childhood.
Best response ever. The rest of you - letting me down!

As far as I can tell from your posts, all you do is paperwork! :D
heh. I see patients for about 1/3 of the time and paperwork for the other 2/3rds to say what I did in the least efficient way possible.
