West Texas Wolverine

wants to see mountains
For those I’ve left out: please accept my apologies. This list merely represents the greatest and most illustrious rep-inflators of those heady days in May-September 2007.

And for the record: I didn’t vote for myself. I voted for wolverineTrumpet, who remains the only Lodger I’ve ever met. It was in Anchorage, Alaska on the opening weekend of the season, 9-10 October 2009.

I didn’t get any 69-rep or 8008-rep, though. Still, I have very fondle memories of the experience.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

Where's the poll?
wT! It's most appropriate that you would be the first Lodger to join me today!

While I’m enjoying this burst of nostalgia, I thought I’d include the first of the thirteen Rep Thread Summaries, penned in that long, hot summer of 2007. Dateline 30 May 07:

We’re Better than TRP (post 519):

You're supposed to be drinking now...that's basically it. Well, besides the following:

Rep is exponential

Family Guy Rock Lobster (#158)

ecbrevik is moving north in time for fall classes

wolverineTrumpet no longer 69-reps, though now she has 8008 repping power

scheids316 and Bakunin had a very short neg-rep skirmish, in which state of hockey was Switzerland, zamboni was Italy (I always thought zamboni sounded Italian), A Shot and a Goal was France, & Brenthoven was Canada

Clockwork Orange is disturbing

You listed 10 Top Movie Pimps (#277), & later lied about not having checked this thread since post #120

Lots of people said "something funny" - and got no rep for it

Batman sings (#305)

Lots of rep guns are out of ammo or jammed every day

Ralph Baer has a "thunder stick" and is apparently called "Hammer of the Gods" by posters who obviously like gladiator movies

Lots of folks passed their post count in rep

There are many 100-point Rep-Centurions, and at least a Triumvirate of 200-pointers (with mattyt02 and Almington soon to join them)

Pint glasses are favored over mugs of any type

Barmaids with arthritic hands are the best

A Shot and a Goal is on vacation

This thread is over halfway through

...shrimp gumbo, shrimp creole, and then there's shrimp kabobs. That...that's about it.

No Giada?
No Giada, but I did find an interesting post by ASaaG from 16 Oct 2009 (from Rep Lodge Thread 86, in a reply to gmann):

"Sounds like the only thing you're gonna be grabbing this weekend is your Dick, Cheney.
Enjoy the weekend. Your pal, JoePa"

I guess ASaag and JoePa were closer than I realized!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 140: The Brave Days of Old

Dang, sorry I missed the thread killing. But a rep (who is also a hockey player and coach - played briefly for Tech then MSOE) called me to take me to lunch - free lunch!

Western New York: This place is like if the UP and Arkansas ****ed and had an inbred bastard child. My parise it's bad here. If posters from New York ever make fun of MN again, for being in the middle of nowhere, they need to be shown the **** within their own border.

Just discovered there is an Arrested Development marathon on IFC. :)
Only one left after this one. :(

Pfffft, take a 4 hour detour and go to the north country. You think it's bad in WNY? Ha, we take things to a WHOLE new level once you get up above Watertown/Alexandria Bay. Specifically, I'll mention Brasher/Bombay/Malone. That's the pinnicle of the north country hickness.
