Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Good morning Lodge.

hockeyplayer....sorry about the loss.

Why the hell is this poll still open?

Getting ready to visit the inlaws. They are celebrating their 45th anniversary. Can't wait to hang out with the inlaws and bil................. FWIW tensions in the family are at an all time high. bil has been without a job for almost three years now and still spends money like a drunken sailor. We only see the family on holidays and birthdays now. Mrs. g and I have pretty much removed ourselves entirely from the drama. The bad part is that my boys are missing out on time with their grandparents.

Morning kids!

Went for a walk over to the coffee shop this morning for my free coffee, still hot out. But for mookie (and myself) there was a cute young a-girl walking back from her morning run.

Morning. Made my 3rd lock this morning, getting better feel of things, bit still plenty of work to do before I'm comfortable entirely on my own.

Board sure is being lazy about killing threads, isn't he? Fire him, guys no good anymore.

During the peak heat last week it got up into the 90s in my house.....I feel your pain les. Gotta love old houses. :)

Have fun with the in-laws g.......your in-law posts remind me just how fortunate I am that my wife comes from a great family and we do a lot together.

I got another "you weigh too much" warning sign last night... won't explain it... wasn't so much embarrassing as disappointing. Now that I'm past some of the more critical aspects of the project I think its time I got back into the gym.

Good for you.

I worked out faithfully until little g was born. Over the past 5+ years of not exercising and having a lousy diet (I would get up, go to work and have a couple cups of coffee and a pop or two and not eat anything until I got home from work then binge on food.) my body and to some extent my mind have suffered. I started going to the gym about 6 weeks ago. In addition, I have made changes to my diet. I go to the gym 6 days a week and on week days I am there by 5 AM. I am aleady seeing/feeling the benefits. I am once again hooked on exercising and I am going to have to bust my azz to get back into the shape I once was.

When i started to seriously work out in the gym about two months in I started to sleep incredibly deeply and felt a lot better for it.

Better to be missing things than to be exposed to learning how to tolerate the crazy stuff.

Only 83 today in the house.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

*sigh* so my uncle, who's 55, has down syndrome, and lives with my grandma & I. All of his friends have passed, and his mind is beginning to go. All day, every day, he whines in his room, extremely loudly, to the point that I have to warn guests before they cone over. He's afraid that someone is going to come and take all of his stuff. Nothing we say eases his concerns, and it's getting harder and harder for my grandma & I. :/
I wish I knew of something that would help. It's made even harder by the fact that he's always been one of the more "intellectual" Down syndrome people.

Have either of you thought about ductless central air? My central air is set on 78. I am not sure how I would respond to the house being in the 80''s or low 90's. I do know that I am not looking forward to getting my next utility bill........

Greyeagle.....the g family might have to crash your xmas day activities so my boys can witness a normal holiday. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

So what's the deal with the 1,000 post thing? Wasn't this supposed to close? And why the hell are we missing all of the old posts?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

The beach today was great. :)

Get ready for this, though. Tomorrow's expected high in Duluth? 63 degrees.

That's too cold. I want 90. Slight breeze. Sunny. That right there is perfect.
Too warm. I'd settle for 75-80 with a slight breeze. In the "EAT A SANDWICH!" days, 63 would have me running for a sweatshirt and a cup of coffee.

Yep, very sad, hope that the families affected can cope with this as best they can.

Had a pretty close family friend (almost a second father to my dad, really) pass away this morning due to very advanced lung cancer. I guess they kinda just figured it out and he was just made aware of it a few days ago. Very sad, as he was pretty much as genuine a guy as could be. Same age as my grandfather was when he passed away almost 3 years ago now, 79. Spent several hunting seasons around him, definitely going to miss his stories.

On a brighter note, drove through unofficial lock #2 tonight (we didn't log the 1st this am, that was more an educational lock). Went pretty well again, then drove up to the lock we're waiting to go through now, and did '**** near perfect.' Gonna go to sleep with a bit of a smile on my face... still a ton to learn, but I'm definitely getting the basics down so far for sure.
:( Sincere condolences. Thoughts to you and your family.

Evening, Lodge.
