Just when the temps were getting warmer and spring weather is on everyone's minds..gotta love minnesota right? It will be a nice ice layer over everything tomorrow morning. Enjoy!
Best of luck to you. I like your positive outlook on a negative situation. We've stayed dry in our basment thus far, but I'm nervous, our yard is now a lake. The river is going to rise again tomorrow, it' pretty nasty out right now again. Took me about 75 minutes to get from Prior Lake to Mankato tonight. All of this rain and snowmelt sucks. I have water seeping in one of my spare bedrooms, like I expected would happen when it rains this much and the ground is froze/saturated. I didn't get time to regrade in front of the house before the snow came so it slopes down to the house. When spring comes and the ground dries up I'm going to have to dig down along the house, get the ground to slope away for a couple feet and install a tile line and pea rock system to get the water away. I was expecting all of this, but hoping I would be wrong. The carpet in that room needed to be replaced anyway so this will be good time to get that done.

Your house wasn't drain tiled? When was it built? (Although, you are on the great sand plains of Anoka county. So perhaps it was never done since the water should go through the ground like a sieve.)
And his house is odd enough where technically it has zero bedrooms. Which I find hilarious.
All the bedrooms are below grade so they don't count even though only half below ground...Let me guess, no closets?

He's got full windows that you could crawl out of if you had to.So no egress windows?

In other news, I am happy to be in one piece today. At around 4:30 on my drive from St Paul to the Iron Range, I lost control of the company truck and it fishtaled back and forth 3 times before I got it under some control and went off the shoulder into the ditch without hitting anything or even scratching the truck. Got out of the ditch without a tow and back on my way to Virginia. I pulled over at the next opportunity to pull all the muck and weeds out of the wheel wells and get my nerves back. I honestly thought the truck was going to roll when it first fishtaled. I was pretty much going sideways down the highway...Probably a good thing the roads were so horrible for a stretch instead of just a patch or my tires would have caught and I would have rolled a few times...scary few moments there.

They also gave us hockey and Poutine!Glad you're all right!
'Morning, Lodge. A dry airmass in Canada kept the super heavy snow away in the Twin Ports here, but things are apparently nasty just south of here. All I have to say is, "Thanks, Canada!"
Full sized windows. Its complete BS, and its why I'm in a 7 year in-house mortgage instead of a 30 year.So no egress windows?
