There's an LJS's in Houghton (it's a KFC/LJS's combined). I've never gotten brave enough to eat from the LJS half.

In other news, who wants to go on a road trip with me? The girls on the team my mom coaches just dissed her, hard, and I want to make heads roll.
Can't make a road trip, but I have an ax you can borrow, to help with the rolling heads.

You can say that again, thinking of going to hide down in the basement again soon. :p

They're CC runners right???

Yup.

Ha, thanks?

Well, this is what we do, we get that ax, you grab those girls and take em way out into the sticks for a training run. Then a bunch of us can pop up out of the woods to chase em for a bit, all wearing the same outfit, so that it all looks like the same guy. I'm thinking of going for bit of a Jason Voorhees look perhaps. Maybe grab one of the slower ones as well. :D

You shouldn't be grabbing underaged girls, FYI.

Exactly. And, that's more or less how my mom ended up with this job in the first place--the old assistant coach was getting a bit too friendly.

But, what this boils down to is that they're straight up ungrateful little twats, and they're spitting in the face of traditions that I myself had a hand in building.

And thus why we bring in DL for that task. ;)

That, or Diva pulls one of them that might be still loyal to Tradition and her Mom, and she can be the designated "slow one".

My 6 day vacation is over... back to work tomorrow. And what did I do over the last 6 days? Oh, just gutted both front rooms and the stairwell (filled a 12-yd dumpster in the process)... in this sweltering heat!

Helping hang sheetrock yesterday was by far the worst experience of my life. Between the heat, the dust and the lack of breathable air I thought I was gonna die. I tried wearing a mask for the dust (and my emphysema) but it was just too hot and very hard to breathe through, so I just took my time and hung my head out the window whenever possible.

This project started as just 1 room but since we wanted to open the stairwell the contractor said blowing through the 2nd room wouldn't add much to the cost except for materials (if we did the demo and helped him with the rest). "We" turned out to be "me" for the most part.
Don't you have teenagers/college aged kids to help you with that sort of stuff?

Econ will either be easy or hard for you. I've found there's little in-between and it's a matter of how much you enjoy the subject and how good you are at basic arithmetic and comprehending graphs.
I second this. I majored in Econ and when I told people they either said they totally didn't get that class or wow, that's a hard major. I think I knew five or six people in my college career that actually enjoyed econ, they were in the major with me.

Went and visited my 82 year old grandfather today. He had a major stroke in November 2005 and has been paralyzed in the left side ever since, plus a couple mini-strokes and a blood clot on the brain since. He's sleeping an awful lot now. Dad estimates that he's sleeping 16+hours/day. He went to sleep after dinner (just before 7 PM) and he'll sleep into mid-to-late morning, somewhere around 10 AM. They'll get him cleaned up and he'll have his breakfast and take a nap, then lunch, then a nap, and he's usually up from 4 PM to after dinner. At least he's not in that much pain now that they've made a change in his meds. He's not complaining that he's cold (when the thermostat is set at 78), and he's not as difficult to deal with when it comes to getting him up into his wheelchair and getting him fed.

He started sleeping a lot more just before last Christmas, before they made a change in his meds. It's been coming for a while now, and if he's sleeping as much as I think he is, it's going to be sooner rather than later. At least he's got the family nearby, and the caregivers are really good to him. It's a minor miracle he's lasted this long.
I'm sorry to hear that he is so ill, it is good to hear that he has good caregivers though, that is so hard to find.

The only things I've seen in Toronto are the Hall and the SkyDome. The Hall is amazing. Probably not as grand as the MLB HHoF, but the amount of history inside is truly amazing. And the trophy room is simply awe-inspiring.
You have also been to the top of the CN tower.

Went to red lobster tonight for the first time in 15-20 yrs. Remember now why I missed it so.... Yummmmm red lobster!

Comments like this could get you barred from returning to Mass.

Fixed.

Don't you, uh, live near the ocean and better seafood places? ;)
This. There is a reason there are no Red Lobsters in New England. They used to have some and they all closed. (Including the one in Portsmouth NH)

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursty thursday is here.

Been engaged in forced family fun with the family (who I love) and demon cousin (who we all don't love) so haven't been by the intertubes. Every yr I see him and he makes me crazy. Every yr Mr tells me he was an azzhat when he met him -fill in the blank- yrs ago and he can't understand why we all think he will change.

Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?
Not too much. Though 'Ewe is moving to NH. Something about saving money on rent and tCBG being better than the beach. :p

Mornin' Loj! OK, can we be done with the "where will Lebron go" saga? Brett Favre is complaining that Lebron is stealing his thunder.

Someday, you'll have a teenager and you'll understand why its easier to do it yourself:D

BTDT, and you're right it was easier to do things myself than argue with The Sun about them. Mini-legal, on the other hand, is pretty easy to work with and usually willing to lend a hand.

Yeah, but they're girls and feel that remodeling isn't something they should be doing. In all fairness, the older one has been doing the shopping, cooking and laundry for the past week and a half so her mother could contribute sweat equity to the project. The younger one should be terminated with extreme prejudice!

Who wants to convince me to buy a Wild 20 game pack? I want to do it, but I'm worried that I won't be able to get face value for the games I don't go to, or for my second seat. Which is a pretty stupid worry, since they sell out every game.

How about you not go to the Wild/Wings game and I'll buy both tickets off of you.

I am having rage control issues today. Good thing I do not have to deal with the general public for the rest of the day. Between this article (SFW - NYTimes article), the whole LeBron ridiculousness, and it being hot as balls outside for the last week, I am just a shaking ball of rage. Hoping that some lunch and an episode of Pretty Little Liars will smooth things over a bit.

Why would anyone who lives in New England go to a fast food or chain restaurant for fresh seafood? Red's Eats in Wiscasset is just one of numerous examples of how much better it is to go to a local place, for both quality and quantity. The lobster roll at Red's Eats costs $16 and you get the meat from two whole lobsters. Of course, just getting lobster yourself locally is even cheaper. Lobsters locally are $5/lb. Fresh steamers are $2.50/lb.

How much do they cost in Cleveland?

I will. As soon as recover from the embarrassment of my landlord coming in with a prospective renter while I was sitting on the couch in briefs and a tank-top, eating a bowl of cereal with the tv on and my textbook on the couch.
