Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

I got one of the jobs!!! :D

It's only 25-30 hours a week to start, but they're supposedly close to signing some big clients and it could be full time by the end of the year.
Congrats! :)

Afternoon, Lodge. Next time I get up at 4:30 AM, it better be a d-mn emergency.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Thanks everyone :)

Allow me to add my congrats to the list!

Went to the dentist this morning to get two old fillings replaced. The tooth would randomly ache, I thought it might be that I lost a fillling or maybe there was a crack in it but it absolutely didn't hurt and I was living with it no problem. But I finally had the two filled. I'm leaving and I say to the receptionist, "So, you just submit the paperwork to Delta Dental and then bill me for what they don't pay for, right?" And she says "No, you have a $100 deductible, plus your co-pay and blah blah blah...." I had to pay $194. Thank God I had my credit card. Because really? For two fillings? That was one of the reasons I waited so long to get them filled in the first place. Now the Novacain is just about worn off and I'm having a salad for lunch which has carrots in it and now the tooth hurts more than it ever did. I'm assuming that it's because it had work done on it this morning, and not because I did something to it.

Yeah, they make you pay upfront. It sucks.

And you're probably hurting because the work was done on it. It should be fine tomorrow at the latest, I would think.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

ahhhhh, work is getting stressful....:o
What days?
Monday and Tuesday. On the bright side, I'm planning on having a large ribeye at BrettFavre Steakhouse on Monday night.
Who says I lied? :p

I'm hoping they end up being like Wed-Fri or Thu-Sat. That way there's only a few days I'd need to take off for the F5 and F4. :D
:D

Congrats!!!
I was just down your way to pick up some stupid computer cable, the store was just across 100 from your exit. That store was a nerd paradise, I felt so lost.

Micro Center. It is that, but good place for stuff like cables, drives, cards, etc.

Yeah, it's geeky but I heart that store! :o

Anyone want to go to a bar and drink, watch the draft and some baseball tonight?

Speaking of going out, how is the "i'm saving money by going out every night instead of paying for cable" working out? :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Wow, I am pleasantly surprised. They are all done! And it's only 9:30. Woot!
Yay!!
I'm thinking of making a Guinness cake. I'm sure Phil will like it.
Mmm... Guinness cake.
Good morning Lodge.

I am getting very close to being burned out at work. (I realize that things could be worse and I could be one of the statistics of not being employed in this economy and for that I am grateful) Things have been absolutely nuts the past few months. There is light at the end of the tunnel and unlike a few months ago the light is not from another train.

I have to say that the group of monkey's I work with have been awesome. So awesome that I have just instructed all of them to start their weekend at noon today and I will pay them for an entire days work.

The good thing is that I have 34 days of vacation I need to burn before the end of the year!

The g family is going to spend the weekend camping at Itasca State Park. Should be a fun weekend of biking, swimming, campfires and smores with the little g's.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
:( on the burned out. Can you take a superweekend (4 days) and spend some time by yourself and just relax?

Have fun on the camping trip (just remember to protect the knives!)!! I love watching little kids eat smores -- totally adorable.
Softball game tonight. My back is killing me, but we're short if I don't play. Boo.

Going to NY to see the chick this weekend. Yay sex!
At least it's not quite as ridiculously hot as it was yesterday. It's tolerable out today (and there's a decent breeze).

Enjoy! :D

:( Ew -- hope you feel better tomorrow.

Working the temp job today until 9:30 :( I was originally scheduled to come in until 6, but they asked if I could stay. I suppose I could say "no" but the extra income is nice (especially since, for now, I'm putting 75% of it in my savings account and tagging it for either Disney/Universal in October or for Minneapolis in April). Just wish I'd known earlier, I would have brought dinner for myself and more than one book. (Plus, it cuts into my weekend time with tcbg :( )

Have TCBG bring you dinner and then stay and entertain you - everybody wins!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Does anyone want to watch my dog next weekend? I'll pay you like $30. Need to be within an hour of Ann Arbor...'cause I'm not driving her too far.
Thursday night - Monday night

Boyfriend and I want to go on a vacation. I think it will be great to help me figure out if I could potentially live with him or not.

Anyway, if I find somewhere for puppy to stay, then bf and I will go to the UP. He's never been North of Grand Rapids.

Current tentative plan is drive to Mackinac Thursday after work. Go to the island Friday, drive up to Tequamanen (or however it's spelled). Hike around and look at waterfalls Saturday, maybe go to Whitefish Point and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. Drive West Saturday night (perhaps all the way to the Keewenaw). Sunday 4th of July fun such as the Gay parade and fireworks in Copper Harbor. Drive home Monday.

Any suggestions? Changes? Anyone want to meet up? And...anyone want to watch my puppy?
I could watch the dog if you can't find anybody else.

If you're going for a romantic stay on Mackinac Island, I would suggest you try Bogan Inn Lane if you're looking for a B & B to stay at. I know the lady who runs it, and she does quite a bit of cooking and its well worth it. Its a little further away from downtown, and you'll want to tip one of the freelance Dockporters to schlep your bags there, but its kinda tucked in under the east bluff away from all of the hubbub of downtown, and would be a good jumping off point if you want to peddle all around the island. Just remember, you can go down the East Bluff via Truscott Street, but um.... You're going to want to be on your breaks the whole way, in fact, you'll probably want to come to a complete stop before you hit it. Far too often the East Bluff Natives up there have watched somebody go flying down the road on the Bluff there, watched them dissappear, and then hear the sounds of breaks squealing, and then some crashing sounds with some swearing peppered in there when they realize that the street makes a sharp 90 degree turn to the lake that few pros could ever hope to make at speed.
I have to go home and work cattle on Saturday. Vaccinate calves, de-louse cows, etc. Yay weekend.
Fun!

I think I'm going to have to leave work early. I didn't even think about baking a cake for the bf's b-day, which is today, until late last night. So, I need to hit the store and buy ingredients, and then bake a cake, get it out of the oven all before 5:30 which is when I need to leave for my softball game.

I'm thinking of making a Guinness cake. I'm sure Phil will like it.
And if he doesn't, you know people who would.

If you can have sex, you can play softball, suck it up, you wimp:p

Yep.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

AHEM. You have no choice here. None.
The plan is to keep socking away enough in savings that I'll be able to pay for stuff at Disney and still have plenty of money for MSP. Disney shouldn't be too costly since we're going with my parents who have agreed to pick up the tab for everything, except for flights and additional days at the parks (they pay for the one night that we all go together to Halloween Horrorfest at Universal). So, really, there should be plenty for MSP (especially once the ... transition has taken place and I'll be working full-time *fingers crossed* and sharing the rent.)
Have TCBG bring you dinner and then stay and entertain you - everybody wins!
Not sure that's appropriate here (and there's cameras). :p

Very good actually. I haven't been to the bar yet this week, and I only went once last week, so I'm really not spending much there. I spent money there on the weekend, but I'd do that whether I have cable or not. :p
The first week I went just about every night, mostly because I didn't have food at the apartment yet, and I maybe spent $40 total, including meals.
