Good morning! Off to the doc's today for an initial visit and a follow-up at the same time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 114: Who gives a...

Good morning. Today is Thursday......for me. Next week I have to work five days , I might melt. But then I'm off the week before the fourth. :)
So I washed my hockey gear this morning, pretty standard for me to do once a month, give or take. The thing of note today is that one of the foam pads fell out of a piece of gear. I don't know from which piece of equipment. I've looked over the most likely culprits, but all seems in order. I have the most foreboding feeling that someone's going to inform me which pad is missing tonight while I'm on the ice.

Always remember, Murphy was an optimist. :)

Exciting morning. Lil's track team was supposed to go to the local pizza place for thier wrap up party but the place reneg'd on the room yesterday. Found out this AM. Guess where the party is now:eek: Yep, that would be my place. Easier in the end. Kids can be wild (within limits)- actually they are a great group of kids.

I'm taking my car in for servicing this morning.
I never knew you had a car! I always assumed you biked or Metro'd around town.

You learn something new every day.

Good morning, Lodge! I'm taking the PM off today to finish our landscaping. The rock is all spread (thank God), and today is the mulch. My back hurts.

Single older male federal employee in a technical science... I'd be suprised if he didn't own his own plane at this point. ;)

A tale of good customer service:

I have a Blockbuster Online subscription, getting one movie at a time, and returning it in-store (right around the corner) for a free rental. Got "MST3K: Mitchell" in the mail recently, but due to my craptastic mailbox not being waterproof, all of the ink on both the mailer and the return envelope was almost entirely washed away. I attempted to return it in-store, but the bar code was too faded to scan, and the numbers beneath too faint to read (though both 'ewe and the checkout girl made valiant efforts).

I went online last night around midnight to request a new mailer, explaining in the e-mail form what had happened. After submitting the form, the website notified me that I'd receive a response in 4-8 hours. Checked my email this morning, and sure enough, there was a response at 3:22 am, explaining that they would send me a new, empty envelope (hopefully it's not raining when it arrives this time) with which I can return the DVD. On top of that, they sent me a coupon for a free in-store rental, which (though they don't know this) makes up for having to pay for the movie we rented on Friday.

Not bad.

My wife and I are looking forward to this evening, which will include dinner at a favorite downtown restaurant of ours followed by an eight o'clock curtain at DCPA for a performance of Young Frankenstein.:)

That's awesome.

"MY name...is Frankenstein!" One of my favorites. Best version of Puttin' on the Ritz ever.

I looked at the DCPA schedule and saw Blue Man Group in December. Does anyone know if that show is kid-friendly (ages 6 and 9)? The ad says "all ages", but has anyone around here actually seen the show?

Assuming your kid can sit through however long the show is, it's definitely kid friendly. They do a lot of splattering (paint flies everywhere), there's a lot of digital art in the background, and the end is pretty awesome. It's actually probably a good introduction to the theater for kids.

Morning, kids. Researching Lyme Disease and Gas gangrene today (and maybe Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome if I have time). We have to write up 4 case studies as our final exam (write up a pretend patient case, then write up information on the disease, including epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment/outcome).

Sounds like fun :)
Also sounds like you'll do anything to avoid watching the Twins pound the Rockies again. ;)

Yes to all. We took the youngest two when they were around 12-13. Lot's of fun and very kid/family friendly. Your kids will love it.
One thing - it's as loud as any rock show you've ever been to, so you may want to have hearing protection for the young ones and yourselves.

I can't get to work in a reasonable manner by public transportation when the weather is bad. (I.e., I don't enjoy ridng a bus through some of the ifier sections of DC.)

My phone is dead. My work phone. This place drives me nuts sometimes. People are like - call the Help(less) Desk. I said, "Right. On what phone?"
