I believe that my sister is trying to get a job with your employer. She's a biomedical engineer and she claims that you guys might actually hire her. :p
I'm required to ask: is she hot?

Good Morning, Lodge!

Is it Friday yet? This week has been messed up. This morning I forgot my glasses and my husband won't drive to my work and get them to me. It also doesn't help that there is construction going on outside and it is a pain to even get to the parking lot. The good news is that my coffee didn't spill in my car this morning like it did yesterday. So there is a light.

TPIWWP. :p

Let me guess: you told her "if you're hired, stay away from the lab!"
Well, with what she wants to do, she'd be working in some kind of lab doing research. Probably not the same kind of lab that you work in though.

When I think of BioMed, I think of the people that occasionally come into the lab to remove equipment that isn't working (like centrifuges). Given the time I leave every day, I never see these people (just like I never see upper management).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Weather.com headline...

Northeast: Cooler temps to arrive via backdoor

Ummmm....how should I prepare for this?

I think she does more research biomed kind of stuff. She does the prosthetics, replacement valves, other "replacing body parts with man-made stuff" research kinda work. Basically, she wants to do what Medronic does, and apparently there is some of that kind of research going on at your place.

Well, she won't find better benefits or job security anywhere else.

Redrocket - I suggest bending over and grabbing your ankles. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Good morning LODEGONIANS. Although the calendar says otherwise, my wife and I have always considered Memorial Day Weekend as the start of summer. We are not ones for taking extended vacations during the year, but rather, we take three, four and five day breaks as our schedules allow us or we arrange them to allow us.

With that in mind, I'm taking a five day break starting today and my wife a four day break beginning tomorrow. The weather guessers seem to be cooperating as there's only a 20% chance of rain over the next three days and none on Sun & Mon. Temps today are to hit 85 and be slightly cooler each day through Monday, but staying at least in the mid to high 70s.

We're staying close to home for the weekend. I have a tee time early this afternoon and will watch Mrs. Shot play a tennis doubles match this evening.

Tomorrow we'll have a leisurely day before heading to Parker, Colorado on Saturday to watch the third round of the Senior PGA Championship being played at Colorado Golf Club [a Ben Crenshaw-Bill Coore design for those golfers in the LODGE].

On Sunday we'll stop by an annual street fair held each Memorial Day Weekend to kick off summer in our neighborhood. Vendors, food booths, live music, a chance to have a cool beverage of your choice, et cetera. Getting together with friends Sunday night for a drink. On Monday, Mrs. Shot and I have a mid-morning tee time to play a round of golf, after which, we'll head to her sister's house for cold margs and grilled burgers. It's a fairly full weekend on tap for The Shots and we're looking forward to starting summer on a festive note. I hope everyone has a terrific weekend spent in the company of family, friends and loved ones as we will be doing. :)

Morning Lodge. Driving to Rochester today. The good thing - it's not in 'Sconny or NoDak. :)

ETA: had my pre-op physical yesterday. Now a go for 11 AM, June 1 to go under the knife.

Keep us posted Goldy so we can have you on our prayer list. I hope you have a nice holiday weekend. :)

That sounds good - I fly to Denver tomorrow.

Yup, VA needs biomeds big time. Tell her definitely try another job posting with the VA if she doesn't get in wherever she's trying to. I'm pretty sure they talk to each other about good potential employees, and I think that's how I got my in (I got rejected at my first try.)

Pretty cool program: it's a two-year fully paid "internship" then you get an official position.

E-n-o-j-y-e-d? Drinking doubles are you?:D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Hot enough. :D

So she's a Tech 5. ;)

Afternoon, Lodge. Arrived 15 minutes early for a meeting with my professor, that he never showed up to. At least I did get to chat with another prof for a while, get some paperwork done, and got an oil change on my way home.

I just applied for the IT version of that. Funny they ask people to mail a hardcopy of their resume, instead of the online submission.

Seems odd they'd take that approach with internships. For actual job postings, the VA allows online submissions (application + supporting materials such as resumes) when the position is posted externally / is a national search for candidates. They ask for paperwork when the positions are posted internally.
