Regarding beverages...........I have been a loyal fan of Crown for many years. (even though I rarely drink these days) I am thinking about trying something new this weekend. Makers Mark. Where does that show up on the whiskey chart?

I've never tried it, but after the reports from fellow lodge members I will definitely pick some up this week - I love bourbon.
I'll report back when I do!

You could spend more and get a nicer product, but Makers is pretty much the perfect "ordinary weekend" bourbon. For special occasions I might reach up another shelf, but Makers has nice flavor and won't wreck the average person's wallet.

So, I've completed my mission.
The dt's app is weird as hell.

Now, question for all of you intelligent older people. :p
Why does my sunburn which has now turned to a tan have little bubbley/mini-blistery looking things all over it?

You killed skin cells when you got your sunburn. It's dry/dead skin that will eventually flake off.

Do it enough times, and you'll be a prime candidate for skin cancer in a few decades. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

Setting that aside, I've still seen no good reason to not know how to drive a manual.
I agree, I think it is just a good skill to have, just in case you need it. What if there is an emergency situation and the only vehicle around is a manual? Yeah, its rare, but it could happen. Its just a good thing to know.

You've never had sunburn bad enough to blister before? Crazy yoopers and their rare encounters with the sun.

Nope, peeled a few times, but usually I don't get any color in the summers. I've already got more this summer than I did last summer, I'm pretty sure.
Well, should I say did? Once my shoulders are done peeling, I may be back to square one.

The commie just told me I was comically lacking in common sense, and the funny part about that is that the dt app asked if I had common sense. :p

So, you lied on the application?
Tsk tsk...

I blister a couple times a year. Yeah, I should know better and wear sunscreen, but I always forget. My bad. On the bright side, I can usually get a killer tan over the summer, I'm talking like beaner-dark.

Nah, you'll probably retain a little tan, but take it easy next time. :p

Afternoon, Lodge. What do I do on my day off from work? Go work. :o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #112: Son of "Filling in for the night shift"

And yes, I think everyone should know how to drive a manual transmission. There have been times where I was the only one who could drive because I was the only one who was sober and knew how to use a clutch.[/QUOTE]
Thanks - we're trying to lead a healthier lifestyle (eating healthy, exercising, etc. :p ) :)

Agreed on that last paragraph.

Despite DC's comment below, I also enjoy Maker's Mark (and lack a set of nuts). It's got deep smoky flavor and is downright tasty. (I like a nutty Manhattan: MM, Amaretto, ice - cherry if you're feeling fancy)
So, I just made a loaf of banana bread. Does this make me a bad person? (does it matter if I made for myself and not to be brought to work as a gift for a co-worker?) :p
See below. This totally put a smile on my face.
Might not make you a bad person, but I'm now laughing thinking of threads from the past.
:D
Happily single comes to mind
:D
Makers is a man's whiskey. Very good in the grand scale of things. Awesome for its price. It's my go-to bourbon.
*looks down* Not a man... :o

This was my point in the first place - hence my shock at the number of Midwesterners that are unable to drive stick.

Checking in from Simmons today :) Spent the morning getting back to my apartment from NH, handling some residual drama from the Boston life, and enjoying lunch outside. Then I headed to the Boston Public Library and stopped to grab almond, milk boba tea. Talk about happy place. The only thing that would make today complete is if the bf was waiting for me at home :o (preferably with dinner :p ).

Maybe I should have called it a manly whiskey. Makers has balls, but they aren't required to drink it? I dunno.

Hmm...I may have to try that nutty manhattan.

2 shots MM, 1 shot Amaretto. Add a cherry. Stir. (Mine was over 2 cubes of ice)

A Manhattan sounds very tasty. Perhaps that'll be on the menu in a bit... and that reminds me, I still have Makers for it. :D
