Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Have a good couple weeks or longer lodge, ill check in again at some point, and promise to have a Guinness for each of you straight from the factory in Dublin around June 22.
Be safe and enjoy yourself!

Now, as soon as they get to sea, HP will be up in the wheelhouse annoying the captain: "Can I drive? Can I? Can I?" :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Later today my wife and I will light a commemorative candle, open a bottle of wine, pour a measure into our glasses, clink them in a congratulatory toast, exchange presents and then head to dinner at a restaurant about which we've heard good reviews but at which we haven't dined, as we celebrate our wedding anniversary. :)

Can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
Even kindergarten starts with a half-day.

To quote Frank Sinatra, among others: I feel sorry for those people who don't drink. When they get up in the morning, that's the best they're going to feel all day!!

While I'm sure there is alot to it, driving a huge-*** ship, through the middle of the ocean seems like it would get boring after a little bit. I'd have to find a variety of jobs to do on a ship like that, not just drive. :p

Posting from my blackberry before I lose service. Off montauk point right now and heading south then over to the azores before going through gibraltar and in to Spain. Should be there next Friday morning, although I may or may not find an internet cafe there, the unconnected from the world thing is pretty nice. Have a good couple weeks or longer lodge, ill check in again at some point, and promise to have a Guinness for each of you straight from the factory in Dublin around June 22.
We all hate you.

Have fun, don't do anything that tLodge members wouldn't do...:D

and most things we would...:p

Paging mookie... mookie to the lodge, stat.

I'm thinking mookie would want to be paged to that bar rather than to the lodge.

Happy Anniversary! Is it a milestone year?

Greetings all. I had meetings straight from 9am-12 noon, my last one took till almost 12:15 to finish. Just went through my emails which piled up while away from my desk. Grabbed my lunch to eat while perusing USCHO. You know what's a yummy snack? Srawberries dipped in sour cream and then in brown sugar. Tasty. Though probably not very healthy I would imagine, which contradicts the eating fruit cuz it's good for you thing. Oh well.

Sour cream? I don't think I'd like that, Cream cheese on the other hand...:p

Is there anything that at we wouldn't do?

Heh - this was my thought too.

Hello from the library. I'm rapidly approaching burnout mode, unfortunately. Just in time for finals. I'm sure a drastic diet change (trying to go with a more protein intense diet - from beans/chicken, etc. - with lots of veggies and fewer carbs) and having the usual female issues isn't helping at all. Just have to get through my 2pm exam and tomorrow's exam and then I have a few days off for study period before finals start next week. :o I'll be very happy when this is all over.

Congrats to Shot and Mrs. Shot - I like the candle idea a lot; is that something you did at your wedding?

HP - have fun! Sounds like a great trip! (Enjoy the brewery tour - take lots of pictures please)

Ewe, We were married in the Catholic church. There was a seminar which engaged couples attended before getting married in the church. [The seminar was/is called Engaged Couples' Encounter, ECE for short.] During the course of the ECE we attended, each couple received a bottled candle. The candle conforms to the shape and size of the bottle to help preserve it.

The candle is meant to serve two purposes: 1) to be a reminder to a man and a woman of the daily/ongoing/perpetual promises they have made to each other as they embark upon married life and 2) to remind that man and that woman of the vows they took, before God and witnesses, on their wedding day.

My wife and I also light the candle in commemoration of past, present [and future] shared trials and blessings; hardships and triumphs.

And yes, we did light such a candle during the course of our wedding ceremony.

Just got back from a trek up north, it was cold up there. Beautiful country but man is it desolate. The farmers were plowing up a storm though, getting ready to plant Potatos. Canadian farmers were doing the same thing, freezing and planting:D

Aww, congrats! :)

'Afternoon, Lodge. My week just filled up. Awesome.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Afternoon Lodge.

Soccer game canceled for tonight. No sitting in the cold rain watching our boys get slaughtered. I'm so disappointed. :(

I guess the host city doesn't want their fields turned to mud pits this early in the season.

Care about basketball?

Afternoon, Lodge. Agreed with all the people who remarked on the *ttiness of the weather in the 612/651/763/952 - at least I wasn't complaining about my effing thick wool uniform today. :o
