Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

So, anybody hear the score of the DU stomping of RIT? :D

Was that an ambulance I just heard?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

'diva - does NMU's coach always dress so casually behind the bench??

I think I'm going to make pancakes for dinner. I like watching this game on ESPN 360. I can bring my laptop into the kitchen while I'm getting dinner ready.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

The end of the season was a three game disappointment for the Denver Pioneers. The team didn't play particularly well against North Dakota and the better team won the game.

Denver seemed disinterested from the opening faceoff against Wisconsin in the WCHA consolation game and the better team won the game.

Today against RIT, the Tigers took the lead early in the game, managed to hold off the Pioneers' best players for most of the game, got terrific goaltending, added a power play goal late in the game and then withstood a late charge by Denver. Congratulations to the Tigers.

It's farewell and Godspeed to seniors Rhett Rakhshani, Tyler Ruegsegger, Matt Glasser, Brian Gifford, Cody Brookwell and Brandon Vossberg. The first two names in this list deservedly earned many headlines with their scoring sorties and exploits. However, it's players such as Glasser, Gifford, Brookwell and Vossberg who play well enough so that the big-time scorers can flourish. My admiration for hard-working third and fourth line players on college hockey teams knows no bounds. I tip my hat to those young men, one and all.

I always have a soft spot in my heart for such players. [It looks like Chris Knowlton, who'll be a sophomore next year, may be such a player]. Six seniors have played their last game for Denver and there's well-founded speculation as to whether Joe Colborne [Boston Bruins] and/or Patrick Wiercioch [Ottawa Senators] may have played their final game today for the Pioneers. It's possible Marc Cheverie[currently Florida Panthers, but potentially a free agent because apparently he hasn't been offered a contract since being drafted three years ago] may decide to head for a professional career as well, even though he has a year of eligibility remaining.

Denver begins the 2010-2011 season by heading to Vermont after the Catamounts came to Magness Arena to begin this past season. That series starts on Friday October 8, 2010, and so, the 195 day off-season begins tomorrow for Denver.

Good luck to your team if it's still playing in the tournament. I'll be pulling for the WCHA teams remaining in the field. :)

I think the Lodge Security Level has just been raised to "Put on the **** helmet".

We have a CHA regional Final in Fort Wayne and the Helmet isn't going to do us diddly. You're going to need the Global Thermonuclear War Bomb Shelter. ;)

Evening, Lodge. Enjoying some delicious nachos and Guinness and ready to watch the Big Red thump the kittens!

I expected them to win that regional (before DU lost) and wouldn't be a bit surprised to see them win it all. A frozen four matchup between their suffocating defense and wisconsin's high-powered offense would be an interesting one.

Tough loss, pretty good season though in winning the WCHA, tough when you team tails off at the end though. It adds to the"what ifs" that we fans think about.
There's always next year:)

Want to make dinner for me too? It's my morning, so pancakes are fine with me.

*sigh* So, I halved the recipe and spaced and put the amount of milk in for the full receipe and the batter is very runny. I dont think you'd like them. I may dump it and start all over, though it seems like such a waste. :o :(

Put the rest of the flour in, cook them and freeze the leftovers in sandwich bags. Quick breakfast(or supper) during the week

Wally, There's always a melancholy feeling that stays with me for a day or two after Denver's season comes to an end, whether that end comes in the form of a National Championship or the failure to earn a berth in the NCAA tournament. With forty seasons of following Denver hockey under my belt I'm acquainted with both.

Yes, I was surprised Denver didn't win today, but maybe the top teams in what are perceived to be "lesser" conferences are capable of playing with the top teams in so-called "elite" conferences.

As a fan I often feel the most difficult part of the season is the off-season, and specifically, what I refer to as "non-senior attrition" season. Denver fans know that six seniors are graduating, but what we as fans don't know is if Joe Colborne [junior to be], Patrick Wiercioch[junior to be] and Marc Cheverie[senior to be] will return.

Add to that the fact that these days you never know who will renege on a letter of intent and go elsewhere or who may decide his college career isn't propelling him toward an NHL career quickly enough and so a player leaves college for major junior hockey in Canada.

I'm glad my wife and I are heading to ski country for most of next week as that will help me shift my focus from the Pioneers' now completed season to the onset of springtime in the Rockies.

I hope you have a good weekend Wally. :)

'diva - I think you're younger than me (your birth year isn't listed on facebook) and you're more than welcome to join my family. You'd be the second oldest of 4 (I have two younger sibs). One's an artist (sister, 4 years younger than me)(photography and painting) and one's a genius (brother- 8 years younger than me)(anxiously awaiting Ivy acceptance), so there's always interesting conversation. One parent is a closet-Republican-hippie (it's a long story) and the other is just more straightedge, but awesome. Family likes to travel, so you're guaranteed at least one, if not 2 trips to Florida every year, plus vacations elsewhere. And their house is on a lake (of course, it's in the middle of nowhere in backwoods Pennsylvania) and they have a black lab. As long as I don't have a problem with your S.O., we'll get along fine. Oh, and they all will watch hockey when prompted (I can even get them to S-WB Penguins - local AHL team - games when I'm home).
How about an older sister? ;) :p

Wooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just stumbled upon Twins-Red Sox tickets for the first series at Target Field!!!!!! Face value on the Twins website! Don't know how I pulled it off, there was supposed to be a lottery to get these tickets!

I'm a bit excited....who wants to go to a Twins-Red Sox game on April 14th?

:D :D :D :D :D :D
I do!! I just can't. :(

Goldy, I've been waiting for someone to make that reference. We two, along with Ralph, may be the only ones in this thread old enough to remember RIT dyes. :)
Nope, some of us are older than we seem. :o

Not really sure I want to watch tonight's game. I've had bad luck with my hockey viewing lately.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 106: My Team I Do Deeply Dig

So SCSU finally breaks the curse. Sorry 'Diva, Bob, whoever else is NMU supporters.

UNH has destroyed Cornell in Albany, 6-2 (ENG). The Lodge Bar is going to get plenty of business tonight trying to drown our sorrows.

My team doesn't even play until tomorrow, and I'm already sad that I'm 0-3 in my bracket :( .

+1, Bemidji fans were cool in DC and I like TTPs:D

Pulling for UNH today, love to see them beat Cornell
