Afternoon Lodge.

Got back from a weekend in northern lower MI last night. The weather actually achieved my definition of "cold" for the first time this year (10F or lower).

Drove up Friday night, so there was no snow yet, and no traffic either. Saturday we took the metro into DC. Were some issues there, but we made it easily enough.

Drove home last night - no problems until I got off of the highway. All in all, pretty easy.

I believe it has to do with former poster phil_dupree, who used to refer to himself in the third person. Originally it was done to mock him, but now it's sort of become a tradition to use the third person in Tech/UMD series threads.

Ugh - I hate that. When I was on vacation in October, the temp swapped my keyboard (a wave) with a normal one, which was fine, but she didn't swap it back and put it in the back of the filing cabinet. :rolleyes:

You're still reading that? :eek: I thought you'd know better. :p

I think it's going to be pork chop and spinach, potato, leek soup (with bacon in it). Have lots of reading to do tonight, so I don't want to be exhaustively full.

Having homemade turkey soup and making lasagne for tom'w. I don't even think about clicking in those DI threads like that. Gives me the willies!

Only 153 emails while I was gone, and at least a dozen of those were stupid jokes and other crap ("This is an amazing photo", "Thought of you when I read this!").
I would have had at least four times that many were I still at HQ.

And I know everyone here is pretty savvy on internet and email protocol, but allow me to vent a moment.

If you send me an email that was forwarded to you from someone who had it forwarded to them, X100, DELETE THE HISTORY BEFORE FORWARDING IT AGAIN. :mad:

Nothing like wading through three dozen screen scrolls listing every recipient who's seen this stupid one sentence joke before me :rolleyes:

My friend found out he doesn't need surgery to fix his broken humerus, so that's good. Recovery time is looking like 2-3 months, so he should be good to go for our summer sea term on our ship to Europe as well.

Rifle match yesterday went well, however we did too well, and got moved up a division, so no conference championship invite for us. I may get to go as an individual, as our teams best shooter, however I'm unsure if I want to.

Hope all of you are enjoying your Monday as much as possible.

What gonzo said, my mom is notorious for sending those out, and only 1 out of like 10 is actually worth my time opening it.

I hate that stuff too!

Thankfully Outlook 2007 has fancy "First/Last", "Next/Previous" buttons next to each reply on the email. So you can skip the forward chain if you want. :D

Are you stating that 90% of your email was actually relevant?

Mmm...soup and grilled cheese. I think that's what's for dinner. Now I have to go shopping for cheese, bread, and soup.

I'm thinking goat cheese, brie, tomato and bacon. No idea on the soup. Probably something out of a can; I feel lazy.

Yes, with a qualifier.
It was relevant the day it was sent out. We have two daily mill reports, AM and PM. Great stuff, if you're actually in the office. ;)

ETA - A couple of years ago I actually blocked a colleague from sending me ANY emails. He liked to send out the chain emails (forward this to ten of your address book members and all the children of the world will be fed and a leprechaun will jump out of your keyboard!). No matter how many times I told him to stop, or sent him a link from Snopes, etc. exposing his stupid cause, he continued. We were in a meeting weeks later and he referenced an email I obviously didn't read. I reminded him that he was blocked for sending chain emails too often. The IS director was in the meeting and just lit into him about how much he hated those emails (He got them from his Mom too) and didn't blame anyone for blocking someone who sent them out.

I get more junk email from the company, many with large attacements.....yet they then decide to dramatically increase the surcharge if your email file size exceeds a certain level.
