Having our annual open house Christmas party this Sunday. THey are now calling for snow (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!). I also found out Lil mass texted the XC team to come. Went from thinking a bit of food is OK to Get ready for an army. THis after finding out he mad the part of the team that is going to the invitational meet on Saturday. Singing along with David Bowie 'Under Pressure'

Agree with the cold thing. Still sick from a week ago. Coughing up a lung all day long is not good. At night sux. Still so tired my bum is dragging by 6PM.

Day 3 of the week with nothing to do. Transitioning jobs the week before having a long time off really is ideal if you like slacking.

Today is our dept. holiday party, so there is 2 hrs wasted.

Work is going to be VERY slow for the rest of the year. I got my big project done, which had to be done by the end of the year, and the other work that I've been working on has stalled until 2011 for various regions...

Remember the conversation yesterday about "everything in moderation"? I didn't take that advice last night. I ate more meat than a mid-sized African tribe eats in a week last night. Then I got a a free slice of cheesecake because my mom tried to embarrass me and told the restaurant it was my birthday. Luckily for me, no stupid song or anything like that, but I did get some awesome cheesecake.

I hate drivers that aren't me. They're all stupid. If one more person pulls out in front of me on an icy road, so help me, I'm going to gun it on principle.

Why do stupid drivers think they can continue driving through the light after it turns red for about 8 seconds when there is snow on the ground? Last night I was the first car in line, my light turned green, and about 5 more cars thought they could go through the light. eff that, I took off and cut off 2 cars so they were stuck across the other 2 lanes. Red means STOP, dip****s.

Speaking of stupid drivers. It took me 1.5 hours to get home last night. Its a 25 minute trip normally.

I voted for Winter Solstice, but I am biased as it is also Mr. Hit and my anniversary. I'm really hoping that we don't have a blizzard this year like we did on our wedding day as he is flying in from Charlotte that day. (oh, I wonder if SG will be driving the plane)

Not sure, but in Illinois, you're allowed to "complete your turn" if you are within the intersection under yellow AND red lights. This means that the green arrow/light traffic has to yield (or is supposed to) to those finishing up their turn. What this usually means is that three cars make a turn or go through a red light before other traffic can go.


Quite the change from the Michigan law where you cannot enter an intersection (stay behind the stop bar) unless you can safely exit the intersection (in the direction you want to go) at the same time.

My guess is people will be running.

As for left-turners, most intersections I've been in only can accommodate one car (mayyyybe two) waiting to make a turn in the intersection itself (unless you got a bunch of people driving compacts). So while a car waiting to turn left is in control of the intersection after the light changes, my guess is additional cars behind that driver attempting to do the same thing would not be viewed as in control of the intersection and could be cited for running the light.

So it's really warm out today: 10 degrees. Ok, so it's warm compared to the last two days. But guess what? More snow on the way! So expect more beeching from the MN contingent about other drivers, etc.

What I find funny is that this is the first day this week that the city schools are opening, and they might have to close again, depending on how much snow we get.

As long as the law hasn't changed since I took driver's ed, MN's law is the same as MI's. You cannot enter the intersection unless you can make it through before the light turns red. And these people were entering the intersection seconds after the light turned red.

Nothing that severe... I was just exhausted at the end of yesterday between gym, sleep, and lack of food.

I've cut the extras out of my diet while holding the rest to be consistent... I had a light lunch (holiday party with few healthy options) and no breakfast. I needed just about everything... Including water because it's so dry.

Repeat after me: meal skipping is bad. Meal skipping is bad. All you're doing is setting yourself up to over-eat later.

Any diet needs BREAKFAST and WATER-LOTS OF WATER.

I very, very rarely eat breakfast. I am never hungry in the morning, and even though I don't eat breakfast I don't get hungry until lunchtime. I know people say that this is a bad thing, but I just can't bring myself to eat when I have no appetite.

Another option would be to have a glass of milk or juice within an hour of waking up. Basically, it'll be a way to tell your metabolism, "Good morning, time to start working for the day!"

There are a lot of times, though, that you see someone creeping forward during a green light, and end up stranded in the intersection once it turns red. At that point, you basically have to just go for it. In fact, that's the only way to make it through some of the left turns I know of (*coughWashingtonandMcClellaninMarquettecough*)

You can legally enter an intersection if the light isn't red. There is nothing anywhere in the statute pertaining to getting through before the light turns red. Below is the applicable part of the statute pertaining to a yellow light.

MN Statute 169.06:

(2) Steady yellow indication:

(i) Vehicular traffic facing a steady circular yellow or yellow arrow signal is thereby warned that the related green movement is being terminated or that a red indication will be exhibited immediately thereafter when vehicular traffic must not enter the intersection, except for the continued movement allowed by any green arrow indication simultaneously exhibited.
