Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

Re: Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

Had a conversation with someone from my old church yesterday: "Without God, you cease to live. You just exist."

Her and 5mn_Major should meet.

Re: Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

I found definitive proof that 5mn_Major is wrong. The highway next to my local college was adopted by the atheist society for my county. So much for the philosophy of No. No longer can anyone claim that atheists have done no good in the world!

People have died on that highway.

My Dad held a similar position, though from the intellectual rather than the spiteful side. If you read C. S. Lewis' apologetics* it's all there. The idea is that God is the apex of a progression that begins with our basic biology (the age old body fear of the reactionary) and moves through childhood, adulthood, and then education, and culminating in spirituality.

* Don't. They're depressingly puerile and very poorly reasoned.

Edit: After a reread, I see your comment as tongue in cheek being in the wrong county and all.

Not safe to read this thread when drinking a beverage.

All sides of the road are mine! And when I listen to the Doors I get that anticipation of being in an altered state..... except I behave myself now.

Is that what's meant when people say they're letting Jesus take the wheel?

When she said that... I wanted to bust out laughing. It appears she also confused knowledge of the Bible with belief in the Bible.
