Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

Re: Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

I don't thing Jesus meant this by "suffer the little children."

During the discussion, guest host Chris McDonald attacked CNN’s Jim Acosta for confronting White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders over the administration’s policy, insisting that the practice of breaking up families “is not America’s fault, it’s [the immigrant’s] fault …If you are here illegally, guess what? You’re family is at risk of being broken up because that is what happens in a law-abiding society.”

Valentine agreed, saying that she spoke with a high-level border patrol agent recently who allegedly told her that the people who are crossing the border illegally are the dregs of society.

“Rape after rape after rape,” Valentine said. “Children below 10 years old engaging in sexual activity. All kinds of sin and disgrace and darkness; the pit of the pits. So we’re not getting the top-of-the-line echelon people coming over this border, we’re getting criminals. I mean, total criminals that are so debased and their minds are just gone. They’re unclean, they’re murderers, they’re treacherous, they’re God-haters.”

These people have a VHS copies of Reefer Madness under their bibles.

It's even simpler than that.

Remember high school. Remember the dumbest kids in the school -- the ones who were so backwards it wasn't that you didn't see them in the honors program, it was you didn't even see them in the standard curriculum classes.

Those kids are running our country now and making decisions of life and death.

Didn't have the implements to build a boat 450x75x45??

Is there definitive proof that we really know what a "cubit" represented in meters or feet?

Montana and Idaho are beautiful parts of the country, but gawd there are some seriously fcked up areas out there.

"I'm praying for you."

When I believed, took comfort in that statement. Since coming out and starting hormones, I don't know whether to take it as a compliment or an insult. Given what I've already experienced from some members of the church, that they're actively praying for me to "convert..." sigh.

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

They're sh*theads. Ignore them.

Re: Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

Why not say thank you? They can pray with their own agenda. If they are praying out of a loving, caring attitude, even if it is misguided it is with good intent. God will answer with God's agenda no matter what they pray for. If they are doing it with a punitive attitude then say thank you and tell them they are praying for them too. They can take that however they wish ~ if they have a guilty conscience then they might choke on it a bit.

Re: Religion Thread: We Could Say a Prayer

Been reading about how the Bible came to be, and all the books banned from it. Books that would have told us more about Mary, Jesus as a youth, and Jesus from 12 to the start of his public ministry. According to the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus was quite a sh-thead growing up.

Not banned, just not made part of canon, for whatever reason. You can still read them, as I have. Plus, there was another cleansing after the Reformation.

As a general rule, anything that could likely be dismissed as speculative hearsay (stories from his youth), or any writings that could introduce plausible deniability to the narrative of divine and sinless Jesus being part of a "Trinity" that is still somehow One God, got canned. All of that distracts from the core message anyway.
