Re: Religion Thread: That's Me In the Corner...

I had parents who were violently opposed to their kids having sex ed in health. My first response was always to encourage them to ask the school what was involved. There were those who continued the 'I don't like it what ever it is but I don't want to know' ~stupider than stupid because most of these kids rode the bus home and heard 2nd hand what was being taught when they had to leave the room. Most of the people who actually asked were pleasantly surprised at what the content was and the way controversial things were addressed. They also made a point to discuss the information in terms of their Faith.

I can never understand trying to shelter a kid from curriculum. Unless you home school, other kids will discuss all this stuff, even if it isn't in the curriculum. (my kid came home in 6th grade and asked what a blow job was because they were discussing it on the bus- the bus was very nstructional that yr .) Use it as a teachable moment. Discuss it in the context of your beliefs.

I also can't understand when big issues get ignored in curriculum for the same reason.

Not so sure this is bad. Many would say 'what???'

If these guys were currently guilty of sex offenses by societal standards, they'd be in jail. If these guys are out on the street, society judges them as reformed. Can't we give them a second chance? And a funeral services is a safe way of doing just that.

Agree.

FOUND IT!!!

Well, I don't care if it rains or freezes,
Long as I have my plastic Jesus
Riding on the dashboard of my car
I could go a hundred miles an hour
Long as I got the Almighty Power
Glued up there with my pair of fuzzy dice

If I weave around at night
And policemen think I'm tight
They never find my bottle, though they ask
Plastic Jesus shelters me
For His head comes off, you see
He's hollow, and I use Him for a flask
