One of the reasons the Amish community in the NYS Finger Lakes area is growing is because of a large migration from Ohio. It was groups who disagreed with the Ohio groups, so they moved. I don't know the exact disagreements, and who is more conservative or not, but it was a schism in the original Ohio community which led to the growth of the NYS community. (Not to be confused with the Mennonites living up in the North Country. They've been there a long time, back to before I went to college up there.)
