And they backtrack. Not sure if a firmer call from Francis, a lighter offertory haul last weekend, an offer to start collecting taxes, or what.
 
Undoing the work of Purity Culture, especially being raised on that awfulness, is so not fun. Growing up in the church, the attitude was "you can be a greedy SOB who's hell bent on destroying the environment, but don't you dare use swear words, have sex, drink, smoke, use weed, do harder drugs, etc." You didn't have ownership of your body and you weren't allowed to fail; doing so got you branded a sinner and immediately rejected by all involved.
 
I'm laughing at the selective outrage.

The Church as a whole, both Catholic and Protestant, has been excluding anyone outside their narrow definition of "normal" for 1.5 millennia. You're only shocked because someone you thought was in the definition of normal was actually not included in the definition of normal.

Biden will live. So will you.

Why else do you think they are attacking Biden so hard?

Deny, deflect, delay. It's what every authoritarian does when confronted with a call for accountability. The cops, the conservatives, the Church -- they all come from the same reactionary factory.
